iOS 18 and iPad OS 18, how to install the new Beta versions

During WWDC 2024, Apple officially showed the world the new ones iOS 18 e iPadOS 18the next updates for iPhone e iPad which will bring the exclusivity on board the Cupertino giant’s devices Apple Intelligence.

Clearly, the announcement had a huge resonance and many fans of the famous apple are already taking steps to download and try the Beta versions of these operating systems, to preview the hard work done by the company.

The new releases are already available free of charge for all users with a compatible device, however, it must be remembered that whoever decides to proceed with the installation could find in their hands a software incompleto and that could be subject to several bugs.

Before continuing reading, therefore, it is good to have understood the risks you are facing and, beforehand, carry out a backup of your personal data.

Who can try new operating systems

As just said, the new ones iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are available for free but non for all devices currently on the market.

In addition to this, we must also remember that Apple Intelligence it is not yet included in the package and will arrive in only in English for a very few selected devices, including:

iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and on all iPad hey Mac that have at least one M1 processor or one of the later versions.

The iPhones ready to welcome iOS 18, however, are: iPhone15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro e iPhone 15 Pro Max which, at the moment, represent the flagship series produced by Apple.

In addition to these, the operating system update will be available for all versions of iPhone 14all versions of iPhone 13all versions of iPhone 12 and all versions of iPhone 11.

How to install the Beta versions of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18

Before proceeding with iOS update you need to check that your device has at least installed iOS 16.4 or one of the later versions. To find out the operating system version you need to go to Settingstap on General and finally up Information.

Once this has been confirmed, you can move on to download the iOS 18 beta, but to do so you must be registered on the Developer program from Apple, which has been free for some time.

To proceed with registration you need to go to Apple developer site and log in to your account using l’Apple ID associated with the device to be updated. Once this is done you must read accept the developer contract and finally download the new operating system.

To install iOS 18 just go to Settings of the smartphone¸ tap on General and then up Software update

Here you need to tap on the button Beta updates which appears only once you have signed up to the Developer Program and select Download and Install under the new heading iOS 18 Developer Beta.

Alternatively you can proceed with installation via Mac, to do this you must first download the iOS 18 beta recovery image relating to the model of your iPhone.

Then you need to connect the smartphone to the computer via the USB cable and enter your access code. At this point it can be opened Finder and select your device in the sidebar.

Now all that’s left to do is go up Optionsclick on Check for Updates and select the recovery image you just downloaded.

Clearly the procedure for install iPadOS 18 on one of the iPad compatible is the same as just described.
