Typically a person spends a lot on a iPhone but there is one aspect that one cannot be happy about: the support. A phone that costs well over 1000 euros and only receives three years of updates can only cause some concern. In fact, for many this aspect means that it may become necessary to change smartphones after this period to ensure security updates and so on.

While phone update policies vary greatly by brand, brands typically make it clear how long they will take care of their handsets.

There is an exception to all this and, as often happens, this is represented by Apple. Historically, the Cupertino giant does not provide precise information regarding the support it offers for its iPhones. It must be said that it has often proven to offer more than other companies, at least when it comes to updates. At the moment, however, there would be important information regarding support: Apple has finally committed to guaranteeing it a minimum duration of support for iPhones.

According to reports, the time that Apple has set aside to support its iPhones it would be surprisingly lower to that granted by other smartphone manufacturing brands.

Exactly last April 29, 2024 the regulation came into force PSTI (Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure) imposed by the United Kingdom. This set of rules forces companies that produce, import or distribute Internet-related products in the United Kingdom to comply with some very specific security requirements. This implies that the support period is also clear. Users need to know how long security updates will be provided.

Apple has therefore declared that the iPhone 15 series for example will receive software support for at least 5 years from its debut on the market. According to what has been reported, it should therefore reach up to September 22, 2028. Google has promised to reach 7 years, as has Samsung. This is a bad defeat for the American giant.
