Asus presents two new OLED notebooks with Windows 11 Pro and new logo

Almost a month after the last announcement, relating to some gaming headphones, the Taiwanese brand Asus is back to show up, this time prospecting the arrival on the market of two new very powerful laptops, to be chosen between a traditional model and one convertible, with AMD or Intel solutions, characterized by a unifying stylistic element since, on the retromonitor, the usual Asus logo has been replaced by an A so stylized that it closely resembles the symbol of the star fleet of the sci-fi series Star Trek.

The first notebook, the Zenbook 13 S OLED has a magnesium alloy shell, which stops its weight at around 997 grams, drawn up in beautiful colors Ponder Blue, Aqua Celadon, Vestige Beige, Refined White: wide open, the terminal reveals, with a aspect ratio of 16:10, a 13.3-inch OLED display, resolved at 2,880 x 1,800 pixels according to a panoramic aspect at 16:10, with excellent response times (0.2 milliseconds), very bright (up to s 550 nits) and with total coverage (100%) of the DCI-P3 color space. The panel in question, as also confirmed by the particular Gorilal Glass NBT protection, is a touchscreen. Still on the multimedia level, the presence of two stereo speakers calibrated by Harman Kardon, with support for Dolby Atmos, is revealed.

The camera body has several ports, including USB-C and a 3.5 mm jack for audio: in terms of connectivity, there is support for Wi-Fi 6E. Inside, the Zen 3+ microarchitecture benefits from the chosen processor, an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU, with 8 cores (2.7 to 4.7 GHz in Turbo) and 16 threads, which brings with it its integrated AMD Radeon 680M graphics card. , built with 12 core units of 2.2 GHz peak. For the RAM, of the LPDDR5-6400 type, it will be possible to reach up to 16 GB, while to 1 TB it will be possible to arrive in the SSD storage (with PCIe 4.0 interface and reading speed of 6,500 MB / s). The autonomy, due to the installed battery, from 67 Wh, allows the manufacturer to boast up to 10 hours of operation.

The operating system chosen, Windows 11 Pro, also benefits from Asus’ second new proposal, the Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED convertible. The latter declines its OLED touchscreen according to a diagonal of 15 inches and an aspect ratio of 16: 9, while the resolution stands at 2,880 x 1,620 pixels, in the name of a proposal that could also gratify graphics lovers and entertainment (100% DCI-P3, Dolby Vision) as well as gaming (120 Hz maximum refresh rate). Still in the multimedia section, the presence of a webcam with infrared support for authentication via Windows Hello should be noted.

In comparison, there is a keyboard with single-zone backlighting: on the side of the machine body, among the declared ports, two USB 3.2 Type-C (Thunderbolt 4) and an HDMI 2.0 stand out to connect, for example, an external screen. With a scheme that provides 6 cores for the heaviest tasks, and 8 for the lighter ones, Intel’s i7-12700H processor takes the field, with an operating Turbo Boost that reaches 4.7 GHz, and with – between the GPUs optionally – the opportunity to use a dedicated Intel Arc A370M, with 6 GB of GDDR6 reserved memory.

Precisely in terms of memories, the Asus Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED, connectively prepared for Wi-Fi 6E, always provides up to 16 GB of RAM, but less performing (LPDDR5-4800), and 1 TB of SSD storage, but with slower read speed (3,200MB / s). Impacting on the weight, from 1,795 kg, certainly contributes the very generous 96 Wh battery.
