During the Pinnacle of Performance event, the Taiwanese brand Asus has unveiled several news related to its next notebooks, starting from the VivoBook family, with latest generation processing solutions from both AMD and Intel.

Equipped with a chassis with anti-bacterial treatment (whose proliferation is 99% prevented), rather resistant to shocks (MIL STD-810H), the VivoBook Pro 14X OLED (322.8 x 229.9 x 17.9 mm, for 1.68 kg), 15X OLED (355.4 x 239.8 x 20.9 mm, for 2.1 kg) and 16X OLED (355.4 x 248.5 x 20.9 mm for 2.3 kg) based on Intel feature OLED panels in the diagonals of 14.5, 15.6, and 16 inches with aspect ratio at 16:10 , resolution from 2.8K to 3.2K, refresh rate from 60 to 165 Hz (in the case of the 16 ” WQXGA, with maximum brightness from 600 nits (according to Black 600 certification), 100% coverage on the DCI-P3 color space ( or on the sRGB one in the case of the 15.6 ” FullHD), and more than 1,000,000: 1 as a contrast ratio. On the audio side, the speakers calibrated by Harman Kardon and the three microphones with noise reduction stand out.

At the helm of the notebooks in question, Asus has placed 12th generation Intel processors, culminating with the 14-core i9 (12900H) iterations (5.0 GHz of Turbo Boost), also allowing the use of dedicated Nvidia graphics cards, with the highlight achieved via the well-known GeForce RTX 3070 based on the Ampere architecture. The RAM, DDR5 4800 MHz, can reach up to 32 GB, while the storage, SSD NVM2 (with PCIe interface) up to 2 TB.

According to the company, the user will be able to go up to a TDP of 140W when processing, thanks to the rather silent IceCool heat dissipation systems (Pro and Plus that put up to 6 copper heatpipes, 2 fans and 4 radiators into service The battery, with 3 or 4 cells, ranges from 70 to 90 Wh, passing through the 76 Wh provided for in the 15-inch model.

The camera body is topped by a touchpad including a virtual wheel / gear, known as the Asus Dial, which allows granular adjustments in graphics editing software, a keyboard with 1.4mm travel caps and 0.2mm notch for comfortable typing. , as well as a fingerprint scanner (for privacy also complied with by the physical shutter on the webcam in the upper frame of the monitor). Among the ports on the side, the RJ45 stands out for Gigabit LAN (2.5 Gbps), the slot for microSD, a Thunderbolt 4 via USB 4.0 Type-C, a 1 x USB 3.2 of 2nd gen Type-C, a combo 3.5 mm jack, a pair of USB 3.2 Type-A 1st and 2nd generation, and an HDMI 2.1.

In the case of the VivoBook Pro 15X OLED (355.4 x 239.8 x 20.9 mm for 2.1 kg) and 16X OLED (355.4 x 248.5 x 20.9 mm for 2.3 kg) based on AMD the dimensions are only two, in relation to the 15.6 and 16 inch displays , again with 16:10, 100% on the DCI-P3 color space, high brightness (from 500 to 600 nits), with refresh rate up to 165 Hz, and various resolutions (2880 × 1620 or 1920 × 1080 on 15 ”, (3200 × 2000, 3840 × 2400, 2560 × 1600 pixels on 16 ”).

In these models, AMD processors arrive at the maximum with a 4.9 GHz max boost Ryzen 9 6900HX octacore, which can be combined with integrated Radeon 680M Graphics GPUs or, at the top of the dedicated ones, with a GeForce RTX ™ 3070 Max-Q. The options for RAM and storage do not change compared to the Intel counterpart, from which Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity are also borrowed. For thermal disposal, so as to be able to unlock a 140W TDP, the IceCool Pro system is provided.

The ports change a little, given that, despite the combo jack, the RJ45 for Gigabit Lan, the microSD reader, the two USB 3.2 Type-A of 1st and 2nd gen, and the 3.2 Type-C of 2nd gen (full functional), USB 4.0 does not support Thunderbolt 4.
