Best phones with 5G technology

In the following chapters, we will first show you what 5G technology is, what its advantages are, and how to check if there is already coverage in your city.
After this premise we will show you the best 5G phones that we can buy at the moment, preferring to buy online (which offers low prices and an unreachable product guarantee).

What is 5G and how to check coverage

5G is a new technology of wireless internet connection (on a cellular network), with which it is possible to connect numerous devices without the aid of a telephone cable. It promises to reach very high maximum speeds (up to 20 Gbps), although in everyday use it is realistic to think that you can navigate around 1Gbps (i.e. 1000 Mega per second).
If the speeds are confirmed even when the diffusion is greater, the technology will act as a direct competitor of the optical fiber inside the home (FTTH), which already allows us to reach similar speeds (1Gbps, as seen also in our article Gigabit or 1000 Mega fiber: how to get it to surf fast).
At present, 5G is widespread only in large cities, but coverage will increase visibly in the coming years, we just have to be ready.
If we want to find out if our municipality is covered by the 5G signal, just use the reference maps provided by mobile phone operators, found below:

  • Vodafone
  • TIM

As you can see from the links above 5G coverage is very limited at the time of writing: Rome and Milan are covered plus some other large cities, without forgetting that the other operators are also in the running for 5G (WindTre and Iliad), but have not yet provided indications on coverage or activation of the service.
