BETT 2022: Samsung presents the new Chromebook 2 360 for education

A few hours from the start (largely preceded a couple of months by Acer) of the annual British educational electronics fair, BETT, the Korean giant Samsung – present there with its own stand – has announced its new Chromebook, with Chromebook 2 360 name which, far from being the convertible version of the Galaxy Chromebook 2, has several points in common with the Galaxy Chromebook Go.

Basically, the Chromebook 2 360 has a frame sized at 287.9 x 206.6 x 16.9 mm, with a weight of 1.28 kg: the painting is silver, except for the keyboard area, which is splash-resistant, with large keys and touchpad, in black. . Wide open, the terminal unveils a 12.4-inch TFT LCD display resolved in WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels), with sufficient brightness (340 nits) guaranteed by the LED backlight, and the touch support useful when the device, folded at 360 ° thanks to its hinge, it takes the form of using a tablet or a sketchbook (for which I use, however, the stylus is not included in the package).

The array that is usually used in FaD (distance learning) in this device can count on a 1 megapixel (720p) HD webcam, and on a pair of 1.5w stereo speakers each, for a total power of 3 watts. . On the sides of the machine body, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 offers a nano slot for security, a slot for reading microSD cards, a 3.5 mm combo jack for headphones and microphone, a USB 3.2 Type-A, and a pair of USB Type-C (one on each side, of course). The manufacturer also declares the presence, optional, of the slot for the 4G nanoSIM, if you opt for the “cellular” model that is with mobile connectivity.

The processing capabilities of the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 are entrusted to the Intel Celeron N4500 processor: it is a dual core (from 1.1 to 2.8 GHz) of the Jasper Lake family equipped with the integrated Intel UHD graphics card: according to distribution plans, combining the LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC storage, you get two mnemonic set-ups, again with 4 GB of RAM, but alternatively with 64 or 128 GB of storage, respectively priced (from 15 April, starting from the United Kingdom) at 419 pounds (about 503 euros) for the 4 + 64 GB Wi-Fi model, and at 499 pounds (about 600 euros) for the 4 + 128 GB one with 4G LTE. In both settings, you get (for one year) 100 GB of space on the Google One cloud, 3 months free on YouTube Premium, and the presence of the TPM cryptographic chip (impersonated by Google H1) is always guaranteed.

Continuing in the range of related specifications, in the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360, animated by ChromeOS (with app from the Android Play Store and the Chrome web store, Phone Hub to manage the phone from the handset, Nearby Share to send files to nearby Android devices ), there is a 45.5 W battery, which can be charged at 45 W using the appropriate Type-C charger present in the package, in order to provide an autonomy valid up to a maximum of 10 hours. Obviously, there is no shortage of wireless connectivity, by default in all versions in the form of Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi ax / 6 (with Wi-Fi Sync).
