Bill Gates talks about AI: from the crisis of some professions to the advantages

Does generative artificial intelligence put some professions and/or, numerically, jobs at risk? Second Bill Gatesfounder of Microsoft, the answer is yes, but we must also consider the advantages that AI products and services bring with them.

The Seattle entrepreneur believes that let 2024 be the year of AI and that the latter will continue to integrate into people’s workflows. Yet, during a recent episode of his podcast “Unconfuse Me with Bill Gates“, which he saw Sam Altman of OpenAI guest, Gates admitted that he was initially sceptical precisely on artificial intelligence and which did not expect such rapid growth, also in terms of efficiency.

His opinion on the matter has changed, it is no longer a mystery, and in fact the American philanthropist has confirmed that his foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundationwill use artificial intelligence to improve living conditions and the healthcare sector in low-income areas.

AI and work: what Bill Gates thinks

During an interview with Trevor Noah, Bill Gates stated that AI could eliminate jobs and that, given its growing adoption in companies, some professions could become obsolete within a short time. However, integrating artificial intelligence into the workflow could also lead to benefitshow to eliminate the need to work five days a week.

Gates did not go into specifics, unlike the CEO of NVIDIA, who did in a recent interview not recommended future generations to consider a career in programming. For Huang, in fact, artificial intelligence is already a fundamental part of programming today and it won’t be long before it takes over total dominance over the profession. So what to focus on? Biology, education and manufacturing.
