The Chinese brand Blackview, poured into devices with great autonomy and resistance, with an increasingly varied basket of products, has announced, as an evolution of the BV8800, the new Blackview BL8800 5G smartphone also in the Pro version.

The new Blackview BL8800 5G (orange, black, green, starting from 603.00 euros on Aliexpress: it.aliexpress.com/item/1005004182890007.html), after the first sightings at MWC 2022, debut with a rugged chassis as per passing MIL-STD-810H tests, waterproof according to IP68 and IP69K standards: the shape is hexagonal, i.e. with cut and reinforced corners, to better cushion shocks during falls and distribute the resulting kinetic energy. Starting from the base model (83.5 x 176.2 x 17.7 mm, for 365 grams), the latter features a 6.58-inch IPS LCD display resolutely in FullHD + (1080 x 2408 pixels), with a drop notch for the self-camera, with 16 megapixels.

The back of the Blackview BL8800 5G offers a shield at the top in the central position, with an LED flash in plain sight and, just below, a quadruple camera: to compose it are a main sensor (Samsung JN1) of 50 megapixels (prepared for video in 2K @ 30fps), one (Sony IMX350) for night vision (via infrared), 20 megapixel, 8 megapixel ultra-wide angle (117 °), and one for depth, 2 megapixel. In the Pro model, basically the same as the base one, the cameras are the same, but with two differences: the ultra-wide angle here is 5 megapixels, and the Night Vision Camera is replaced by a FLIR Lepton sensor to measure the temperature.

On the side there is the multifunctional power button (screenshot, underwater shooting, audio recording, SOS, walkie-talkie, flashlight, game mode launch), which can also be used as a fingerprint scanner.

Moving on to the heart of the device, animated by Android 11 under the Doke OS 3.0 interface, we start with an octacore processor (2.2 GHz) MediaTek Dimensity 700 (number code MT6833), supported by 8 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and 128 GB of storage (UFS 2.1, expandable via microSD). The heat dissipation foresees a 3D vapor chamber made of copper, of 9400 square millimeters, placed together with a 2300 square millimeter graphene film.

The battery of the standard and Pro Blackview BL8800 5G amounts to 8,380 mAh which, topped up quickly (in an hour and a half) to 33W via microUSB Type-C, ensure up to 7 days of stand-by, or – more concretely – up to 4 days in normal use, 30 hours of phone calls, or 10/12 hours of continuous playing. Finally, among the connectivity, it is possible to include the Dual SIM, also 4G, GPS (Glonass, Beidou, Galileo), NFC, Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi ac.
