Fresh from the launch of the new XPS 13, normal and 2-in-1, the American brand DELL has announced, with arrival on the market in the summer, the new Precision 7865 Tower computer, an ideal workstation for data science, novice filmmakers, graphic design, film studios, engineering, virtual reality, imaging, and artificial intelligence, where not only the level of performance is important, but also the ability of the system to work in multi-core to manage complex and voluminous workflows.

The DELL Precision 7865 Tower has a structure that allows easy maintenance and updating of components, thanks to the front and side accesses, but also equipped with a locking system of the chassis with intrusion detection: security is completed with self-encrypting units and the TPM 2.0 chip, to secure intellectual property, without forgetting the AMD PRO Manageability that allows administrators to remotely support employees.

Inside, the manufacturer has promised the use of AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX workstation APUs, with Zen 3 microarchitecture, made available up to the flagship interaction, the 5995WX, equipped with 64 Cores, 128 Threads, 256 MB of cache, clocked at 2.7 GHz.

For the GPUs, up to 2 GPUs can be placed inside the chassis equipped with a 1,350 W power supply, compacted by 14% compared to that of the previous Precision 7820 Tower, to be chosen between the AMD Radeon PRO W6800 with 32 GB of dedicated memory and an Nvidia RTX A6000 with 48 GB of dedicated memory. Moving on to system memory, the DELL Precision 7865 Tower will be equipped with up to 1 TB of 3,200 MHz DDR4 RAM, with the ECC error detection and correction system and the proprietary RMT Pro reliability technology: storage, thanks to various combinations of HDD and SSD (M.2), can reach a maximum of 56 terabytes.

As an old adage from Spider-man goes, “From great power comes great responsibility”: DELL, in this regard, has thought about how to keep so much processing power at bay, allowing maximum performance, without the problem of heat generated or heat dissipation noise, and got it right with a “hexagonal ventilation pattern, supporting dedicated air channels to critical components”.

Movable easily thanks to the carrying handles, the DELL Precision 786 Tower features USB Type-C and Type-A ports on the front, while the 1Gb and 10Gb Ethernet network ports allow multiple colleagues to work on the same Tower at maximum speed. : the option for Thunderbolt 3 is not missing. In terms of software, it will be possible to choose between the Windows 10/11 operating system and Linux Red Hat / Ubuntu, with the Dell Optimizer for Precision tool that will dynamically adjust the performance by learning from the needs and customer’s work habits.
