As is known, in 2024 (with revisions then in 2026 and 2028) Meta should present the AR Project Nazare smart glasses, standalone, and the Hypernova variant that will exploit the smartphone hardware, with both devices controllable by electromyography from a bracelet with just thought. In the meantime, however, new rumors have shed light on Menlo Park’s plans between now and 2024 regarding access to the metaverse through its viewers.

Combining what was collected from The Informer site, and the UploadVR portal (which received an email from a Meta spokesperson), it seems that in September 2022 the Project Cambria viewer, also known as Quest Pro or Arcata, priced over $ 800, will debut. therefore more than the Quest 2, since it would have hardware comparable to that of an entry level notebook, with an ergonomically placed battery behind, two 2.48-inch mini-displays in the form of miniLEDs, and a resolution of 2,160 x 2,160 pixels,

Intended for business use cases, but compatible with Quest games, the viewer would be animated by a modified version of Android and would rely on eye and face tracking to animate the expressiveness of the avatar. There would be a color passthrough, to combine reality with simulated elements in a mixed reality perspective.

In 2023, where we now find the Quest 2, there will be an accessible viewer, currently known by the code name of Stinson, on whose account, however, there is no indication on the price and rumors on future specifications. In 2024, more viewers would arrive. Codename Funston seems to be destined to be a high-end model, aimed at collecting the legacy of the Project Cambria mentioned above while, otherwise, a step below, the product known by the code name of Cardiff, again for now without numbers on specifications. and price, should be placed in the range of the Quest 2, resulting in an updated version of the Stinton viewer.

Naturally, it should be considered that what emerged from the reports of the sources, while indicating the timing in principle, could also see the period of debut of the products vary, in conjunction with the continuation of the development of the same.
