The Microsoft browser that we have used for 25 years will cease to exist, Internet Explorer will in fact be replaced by Microsoft Edge already in use in Windows 10, which however has not been very successful, many prefer Google Chrome or Firefox or Macintosh operating systems.

It was 1995 when it appeared for the first time used all over the world is now obsolete, for nostalgics who still use Windows 7 will still be able to use it, however it will no longer be updated, since it goes towards Windows 11, it has been the object of ridicule by various memes with browsers that have outclassed it.

The browser was one of the protagonists in both so-called browser wars, in which it competes in the first mainly with Netscape Navigator, while in the second with Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera. On 19 May 2021 Microsoft announces in its official blog that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is on Microsoft Edge

On August 17, 2021, Microsoft 365 support in the browser was dropped. As of June 15, 2022, the Internet Explorer 11 app has been retired and support has ended. Support for Internet Explorer mode on Edge for companies that still use tools that require IE will still be available until at least 2029.

Edge was born in 2016. The new browser from Microsoft has not been able to become the market leader, which has been dominated by Chrome for years, but still offers itself as a valid and modern alternative. The noun “explorer” indicated the need to explore a novelty, of which the same Microsoft executives at the time, Bill Gates in the lead, did not yet fully perceive the potential. A laconic message on the download page of the software house founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen certifies its definitive disappearance.
