Honor, a former sub-brand of Huawei, in the past few hours held a small event in China, during which it presented a very elegant mid-range, the Honor X40i, out-of-the-box with Android 12 (below the proprietary Magic UI 6.1 interface).

The Honor X40i has a frame (162.9 x 74.5 x 7.43 mm for 175 grams) set up in 4 different colors, including Rose Galaxy, Xingmeng Silver, Mo Yuqing (green) and Magic Night Black: the side frames are flat and, at right, the power button also acts as a fingerprint scanner. The display is a 6.7-inch diagonalized LTPS LCD panel, extended over a 93.6% screen-to-body, with a FullHD + (1080 x 2388) resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate.

In the hole located centrally in the upper part of the display, with the task of operating face recognition via AI, an 8 megapixel self-camera operates. The back is really impressive: here, in terms of design, the manufacturer has provided a small vertical ellipse on the left, inside which two rings, intersecting at 8, place the Flash LED in the contact area: to compose the resulting dual camera are two sensors, with the main one reaching 50 megapixels (f / 1.8), and the secondary one, to acquire depth in the Portrait effect, which does not go beyond 2 megapixels.

The octacore (2.2 GHz) MediaTek Dimensity 700, made at 7 nanometers and flanked by an ARM Mali-G75 MC2 GPU, can use, depending on the configuration, 8 or 12 GB of RAM, and 128 or 256 GB of storage : specifically, the consumer interested in the Honor X40i will be able to find it in the combinations (SKU) of 8 + 128 GB, 8 + 256 GB, and 12 + 256 GB, respectively priced at 1,599 yuan (about 237 euros), 1,799 yuan (more or less 267 euros) and 1,999 yuan (about 296 euros).

The battery of the Honor X40i amounts to 4,000 mAh, and charges quickly, at 40W: in terms of connectivity, the latest specifications of the device are substantiated in the presence of Dual SIM, Wi-Fi ac, 5G, GPS, 3.5 mm mini-jack, Bluetooth 5.1, and a microUSB-C (as always, to transfer data and recharge).
