Available in the final version, Windows 11 23H2 is the second major update that Microsoft has made available to all users of its latest operating system.
It’s also the only one feature update of the year since starting from the release of Windows 11, Microsoft decided to limit itself to distributing just one update package containing new features instead of two as previously happened with Windows 10. Also in the case of Windows 10 it was chosen to distribute only one feature update the year between now and 2025 when the operating system will be retired.
In another article we saw how to prepare the PC for the installation of Windows 11 as well as the role of official applications such as PC integrity check (Microsoft) and WhyNotWin11 which help you determine whether your computer meets the requirements or not.

Press the Windows 10 or 11 Start menu then type
cmd in the search box. After pressing Enter, when the Command Prompt window appears, copy and paste the following:
reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\TargetVersionUpgradeExperienceIndicators\NI22H2" | findstr /c:DestBuildNum /c:UpgEx /c:RedReason

The appearance of the number of build 22631 confirms that your system already “knows” Windows 11 23H2, regardless of whether Windows 10 or Windows 11 is installed.
UpgExU will be set to Green if the system is compatible and can be upgraded without problems to Windows 23H2. Conversely, the string appears next to the two items Red.
Finally, in the event of a “red light”, the voice
RedReason summarizes the main reason why it is not possible to update to Windows 11 23H2 (in the example in the figure the use of an incompatible CPU).
