Let’s see together what is wireless charging on the phone and how to use it, assuming that the best results are obtained on phones that are born with fast charging included in the data sheet (still few in reality, but more and more phones offer this function).

What is wireless charging
As the name suggests, wireless charging allows you to recharge the battery of your smartphone without using a cable, but simply by placing the smartphone on a “recharging” surface. It is also called inductive charginggiven the type of electromagnetic technology used.
Using this technology we can therefore get rid of the stress of the cable and the possible problems generated by an intense use of the USB socket for charging (if you pull too hard, for example, you can also break the connector!).
The charging base is composed of solenoids that generate a small electromagnetic field in the area indicated for charging; this field is activated only if there is a smartphone in the area, obviously compatible with wireless charging. In the smartphone there is a small wire wound on itself capable of capturing the electromagnetic waves generated by the wireless charger.
The passage of electromagnetic waves on the wire triggers an inductive process that generates electrical energy, which can then begin to charge the battery. As soon as the smartphone is removed from the charging area, the wireless connection is disconnected without any danger. There are currently two standards for wireless charging of portable devices:
1) Qi: this is the most widespread standard, distributed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
2) PMA: another standard used for wireless charging, distributed by Power Matters Alliance.
Both standards are effective for wireless charging, only the frequencies in use and the type of connection change. In the case of the PMA standard it is possible to recharge the devices also with an external adapter, just get the inductive adapter and connect it to the USB socket, so as to recharge the smartphone without wires on the appropriate base.
Therefore, before choosing any charging base, try to find out which standard is used by the phone in use, so as to buy a compatible model.
Wireless charging has evolved and now allows you to recharge a smartphone in just over an hour, with times therefore comparable to the standard USB cable without fast charging, although obviously a lot depends on the type of base purchased and the standard used.
On some high-end phones we also find the ricarica fast wireless, a special recharge based on high-energy electromagnetic waves capable of fully recharging the phone in less than half an hour, a time unimaginable until recently.
Smartphones compatible with wireless charging
There are more and more smartphones compatible with wireless charging, below you can find a list of the most recent models that integrate charging inside the body of the phone.
The first smartphone that we can with wireless charging that we can see is the Xiaomi Mi 11 5G, sold and shipped by Amazon for less than 700 €.
On this phone we find a 6.81 ”WQHD + AMOLED display, Snapdragon 888, 108MP + 13MP + 5MP Triple Camera, 4600mAh battery, 50W wireless charging, NFC connectivity and MIUI operating system (based on Android).
Another phone with powerful wireless charging is the OnePlus 9 5G, sold and shipped by Amazon for less than 800 €.
This powerful phone features a 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display, Snapdragon 888, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB memory, Triple Camera, 4500mAh battery, 15W wireless charging, NFC connectivity and Android 11 operating system.
If we want to focus on a Samsung it is worthwhile to consider the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, sold and shipped by Amazon for less than 850 €.
On this phone we find a 6.2 “Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, 4 rear cameras with artificial intelligence, 128 GB of internal memory, 8 GB of RAM, 4000mAh battery, Dual SIM + eSIM system, 15 W wireless charging and system operating Android 11.
One of the most striking phones of this generation is theOPPO Find X3 Pro, sold and shipped by Amazon for less than 1000 €.
On this high-end smartphone we find a Qualcomm 888 processor, a 6.7-inch QHD AMOLED type display, 120Hz screen frequency, 4 50MP rear cameras, 12GB RAM, 256GB internal memory, 4500mAh battery, support for WiFi 6, Dual Sim support, 30W fast charging and Android 11 OS.
If, on the other hand, we want to focus on an Apple phone, the best is undoubtedly theApple iPhone 12 Pro Max, sold and shipped by Amazon for less than € 1250.
