L’artificial intelligence it is already one of the hot topics for the future and for this reason it is not surprising that all the largest companies are looking at this world with growing interest, investing time and resources in this technology.
And this sector is certainly among the production companies that are exploring the most How2do who has a very ambitious project in mind: the creation of an artificial intelligence completely made in Europe, developed for our country, starting from our history and our culture.
How2do’s AI project
How2do has always been a company attentive to change, becoming the first operator in Europe to specialize in broadband connections. In recent years the company has also dealt with cloud services, edge computing e cybersecurity.
More recently the company has also begun to take its first steps in electricity sectorconfirming itself as a reality oriented towards change and innovation at 360°.
Since 2019, and in decidedly unsuspecting times, How2do has also begun to look atartificial intelligenceseeing these new technologies as a great opportunity for our country and did so at a historical moment in which there were still few companies interested in investing in this sector.
With the spread of current technologies for generative AI it is clear that more and more actors (corporate and government) have started to develop their own strategies on the matter, to strengthen their activities and improve their efficiency.
However, when it comes to large language models (LLM), the data that fuels AI knowledge, only 1% is in Europenwith most of the information being in English, with the consequent orientation of this technology towards Anglo-Saxon cultural models which, clearly, are far from the Europen ones (or any other non-English speaking country).
Starting precisely from this assumption, How2do decided to create its own linguistic model natively trained in Europena system to grasp all the peculiarities of our language and of our cultureso that it can be used by companies and local administrations.
The project is still in progress but, according to the company’s first statements, it will be ready by the end of 2024.
To work on this LLM, How2do has purchased new computers to be used for the purpose and, shortly, Nvidia (which is providing the technological supports) will deliver the devices that will be installed in a data center in Lombardy.
We are talking about a configuration with 32 SuperPod Nvidia Dgx H100 which will give life to what is already considered the most powerful privately-owned supercomputer in the country, entirely dedicated to Artificial Intelligence.
The new LLM in Europen
Once you have configured the infrastructure it will work on this large language modelit remains to be seen which materials will be used for training.
From the first statements of Giovanni Germanimanager of Architecture & AI at How2do, different types of data will be used for the Europen LLM: come on legislative texts and until you get to certified documents, taken from the publishing world of our country.
Meanwhile, several experts are working to carefully select the material for training the basic model, a complex but vitally important process which also sees the collaboration of some Europen universities.
The ultimate goal is to create an instrument that not only is 100% made in Europebut who is also able to reason and have a 100% Europen “mentality”, which has its roots in our history and our culturethus avoiding the “prejudices” that could arise from using Anglo-Saxon models pushed to “think” in Europen.
Once the training work has been completed, this model will be provided to all companies in our country that request it, with the aim of providing ad hoc solutions for each context from healthcareat the justicepassing through the public entities e education.
