1) Start menu manual reset

To proceed, press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC on the keyboard, press the top of the search field (present on the new windows 11 task manager) and look for the called process StartMenuExperienceHost.exeso that you can close it by right-clicking on it and pressing up End process.

This file is also located in the path C:\Windows\SystemApps and looking for the folder Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_xxxxxxxxx (to be typed in the address bar of File Explorer by pressing WIN+E): once identified we can simply press on it to start it again, effectively restarting the Start menu without having to shut down or restart the whole PC.

2) Restore Start menu da PowerShell

Alternatively we can carry out a reset of the Start Menu of Windows 11 and Windows 10 by opening PowerShell as administrator (without the help of Start) and typing a reset command specific to the Start menu.

To proceed, press WIN+E on the keyboard and, from the File Explorer, go to the path:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0

In the folder that will open, right-click on powershell.exeClick on Run as administrator and type the following command:

Get-appxpackage -all *shellexperience* -packagetype bundle |% {add-appxpackage -register -disabledevelopmentmode ($_.installlocation + “\appxmetadata\appxbundlemanifest.xml”)}

The Start menu will be reinstalled and you can use it again without problems.

3) User reset, SFC or DISM reset
