Instagram and Threads will no longer recommend political content

The world of social media is constantly changing, especially to help the community avoid having problems. Meta continues to make major changes to its social apps, mainly due to the new guidelines imposed by the EU against the big giants of the tech world. The new EU legislation is trying to create a fairer and more constructive digital economy, all through steps that unfortunately cannot ignore very strict rules.

Some of the changes that Meta intends to implement concern content of a certain type that platforms such as Instagram e Threads they aggressively advised their users. All this while also producing very important involvement.

Instagram and Threads out of politics: they will no longer suggest relevant content

Everyone who is a fan of politics and every day they receive their dose of news relating to this area from the social apps in question, they may soon find themselves having to change their habits. Both apps will stop recommending political content to their users, it has confirmed Adam Mosseri of Instagram over the weekend. According to her, Meta no longer has any intention of proactively amplifying and disseminating political content from accounts that users don’t follow.

This means that while users will still be able to see political content from the Instagram and Threads accounts they already follow, they will no longer receive suggestions with content of this kind from accounts that they don’t follow

As the leaders know, in the coming weeks the way in which content regarding politics is avoided will be significantly improved within areas such as Explore, Reels and Suggested Users, both on Instagram and on Threads.

If political content is posted by an account that is not eligible to be suggested, that account’s content may still reach its followers in Feeds and Stories.
