Instagram: chronological ordering, tags produced for everyone, downs and various rumors

After a start to the day seasoned with some malfunction since, according to the reports received on downdetector, in pulling down the feed curtain and releasing it to update it an error was often returned, Instagram, again at the center of rumors, was promptly “redeemed” announcing the return of the chronological order for the contents and the possibility for all accounts to be able to sponsor products in posts.

Meanwhile more and more users are resorting to third-party solutions (e.g. the Italian media assistant PostPickr, which now allows you to schedule the publication of posts in the form of a carousel) to improve the management of their account, Instagram has decided to facilitate their things with a directly integrated novelty. Following the anticipations at the end of January relating to the return of the chronological feed, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri confirmed the arrival (via remote server activation in favor of all users in the next few hours) of two options for organizing and sorting the feed .

The two options, respectively named “Followers” and “Favorites”, can be activated at the top left, using the arrow down next to the Instagram logo: of the two (both ordered chronologically starting from the most recent contents), the first shows the posts, photos, videos and more, of the profiles we already follow, while the second lists those of profiles, friends or creators who are, in a maximum number of 50, that the user will choose as the most interesting.

Speaking of the “favorites”, it was observed how it will be possible to set the accounts in question from the app settings (nothing new, therefore, for Instagram from a web browser), similar to what already happens for close friends: people choices will have a distinctive star next to the name but, in any case, the list of favorite people can be changed at any time, by adding or removing someone, without then receiving a notification about it. Finally, it should be noted that the posts of the favorite accounts will enjoy a favorable treatment also in the traditional feed, where they will be displayed higher up.

In 2016, Instagram introduced “product tags”, then extending them – as new formats were established – to videos, Stories and Reels: all accompanied by a payment function so that it was possible to buy the product directly. on whose tag you clicked. In the past few hours, as confirmed to The Verge, the well-known photo-sharing has implemented this functionality, providing for progressive enabling in the USA, with the consequence that it will be possible to tag a product even without a business account.

To do this, simply create a post, edit photos and videos, go to the option to tag people and here use the sub-item to tag the products, which will ask you to link to the product placed in the video or photo, so that you can proceed. in search of the brand. According to what emerged, the activities whose products will be tagged will receive a notification with each tag received, being able to deactivate all tags by intervening in their account settings: the users who perform the tags, at least for now, will not earn, even if Menlo Park has announced that it has started a test with some selected creators in which it is experimenting to remunerate them through commissions for sponsored products.

Even the round of news unearthed by the leakers is no less crowded than those officially announced. According to reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, Instagram is working to show directly on Home whether a user is online or not, as well as a function related to Community Stories and to allow a user to preview a thread (which in may even earn a redesigned details page) in the conversation list just by holding it down for a long time. The experience gained with Threads may not have been in vain, given that Instagram is still working on the Status function (also intended to be enriched with the addition of music) which has been given the ability to select its audience.

Finally, from leaker Ahmed Ghanem comes the indiscretion that Instagram is testing the “Scheduled” sticker Programmed for Stories: the latter, with a reminder role for its upcoming events, would allow the creator to make a direct connection at your next events, to choose which one you want to promote.
