Always committed to improving, Instagram was surprised to test the Live Producer function with some selected partners to broadcast from the Desktop using ad hoc software, which allow the use of custom graphics, microphones and additional cameras.

In the past few hours, Instagram, the well-known multimedia entertainment platform of Meta Platforms, confirmed in an email to the TechCrunch editorial staff the start of a test, with a limited number of partners, of the Live Producer function.
Basically, the new function goes beyond the already possible live streaming from mobile, and allows you to make direct from Instagram.com on a Desktop, using specific professional streaming programs, such as Streamyard, OBS, or Streamlabs, with the benefit of being able to add a live customized graphics, without forgetting the use of external microphones and additional cameras. To proceed with the novelty, you must first respect the technical requirements: in terms of video, a resolution of 720 x 1280p must be used and the 9 × 16 format is recommended, while the frame rate can reach 720p @ 30fps (also possible with the 60fps, as well as the non-recommended levels of 480p and 360p @ 30fps) and the bitrate range at 2,250-6,000 Kbps.
On the audio side, the bitrate can reach 256 Kbps, where the sampling frequency will be set to 44.1 kHz and the channel arrangement must be stereo.
Being able to meet these requirements, to use the Live Producer function, which however does not yet support moderation (although it allows broadcasters to view and reply to comments), you must go to Instagram.com via browser, and click on “Add post “: In the drop-down menu that will open, choose Live, in order to open the” Go Live “window where you can enter the title of the live broadcast, and select the audience, paying attention since” Audience “will actually broadcast the live to everyone . For the first few times, it is better to choose “Practice”, so as to see if everything works, and to “melt” a little.
The next screen, finally, will show two values, the unique URL and the key of your stream, which will be copied and pasted in the appropriate spaces provided in the streaming software chosen, so that it transmits its configuration to Instagram Live.
Instagram also provided some clarifications on the Live Producer function. In particular, by activating the Live Archive on the mobile side, thanks to it, it will then be possible to view, download and share a completed live: moreover, the streaming will be terminated on the Live Producer and not on the streaming software used. Otherwise, Live Producer will continue to transmit until the last frame received by said software.
