Is Microsoft “giving up”? Xbox exclusives could come to PlayStation 5

Microsoftsi

It’s been many years now Microsoft tries to steal the show from Sony in the gaming market, however, overtaking there never was and the situation does not seem likely to change in the future, despite some shocks (such as Game Pass and cloud gaming). PlayStation remains the best-selling console and shows no signs of slowing down its ride, and perhaps for this very reason the Redmond company may have made a truly unexpected decision: bring its exclusives, such as Starfield, to the competition’s gaming platform.

At the moment there is nothing official yet, but the rumors that have circulated in the last few hours and the message published by Phil Spencer on X would seem to leave room for very little doubt. Proceeding in chronological order, the indiscretion was launched by a source aware of Microsoft’s plans: the company’s intention would be to bring its exclusives to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. In this list, as suggested by The Vergethere would also be Indiana Jones and the Great Circle developed by Bethesda, part of Xbox Game Studios since 2020.

Are Xbox exclusives also on PlayStation 5? Phil Spencer does not deny it and announces an important event

After the leak, came the statement from Phil Spencer, at the helm of the Xbox division. «We are listening and we listen to you», wrote P3 on Elon Musk’s social network. «We have scheduled a business update event for next week. We can’t wait to share more details about our vision for the future of Xbox with you».

Phil Spencer’s is not a confirmation, but not even a denial. If the leak of the last few hours had been very far from reality, the Microsoft executive would probably have swept away any rumors about this sort of leak resa which is talked about with some insistence. However, the denial did not arrive, and indeed it seems that the brief announcement arrived “only” because of these rumors.

Speaking of speculation, it should also land on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush (one of the surprises of 2023) and above all Starfield. The video game, also signed by Bethesda Studios, is considered one of the flagship titles for Xbox Series
