Day 4 of MSI 2022 has just ended, the day of the Rumble Stage characterized by several surprises that herald a Day 5 that will have no mercy for those who make mistakes. Here is the recap of day 4 of the Rumble Stage:

  • RNG: They win against the bottom of the SGB rankings and then destroy the EGs.
  • T1: Win against G2 and lose against Evil Geniuses.
  • EG; They snatch a victory from Faker’s T1 but are crushed by the SGBs
  • G2: Second day that sees them close with 2 defeats by hand of Faker’s T1 and PSG Talon.
  • PSG: They win (again) against G2 and surprisingly lose against SGB.
  • SGB: They lose to reigning champions RNG but get a “proud” victory against PSG Talon.

The G2, the only European team with the possibility of accessing the semi-finals, seem to have lost their shape, which led them to share a shaky 3rd place with the EGs. After the domination of the first two days they still do not seem to have recovered from the defeat arrived on the 3rd day of Rumble Stage at the hands of PSG Talon. Defeat that interrupted their 24-game win-streak.

The RNGs are the reigning champions who have lost only once (against the G2) only to win all subsequent games: to go as first in the standings at the Knockout Stage they will only need one victory. Among its components, Gala, the adc that already boasts 2 pentakill (if we also consider the one obtained in the game then replayed due to an on-stage problem with artificial ping, since the Royals were not able to go to Busan, due to covid restrictions).

Faker’s T1s are placed in second position showing some weakness in the draft phase but showing themselves to be a team capable of suffering and reacting thanks to the individuality of the players. The Evil Geniuses find themselves on equal points with the G2 and although they were not among the favorites they proved not at all intimidated by the big names in the other teams, playing aggressively every match with all its pros and cons. In EG, among all, Jojopyun, the midlaner, made a name for himself not so much for his skills and (undisputed) qualities as for his goliardic outings on Twitter that have kindled the hearts of the fans (European ones in particular) .

PSG Talon capitalize against G2 but lose incredibly to Saigon (SGB). For them the situation is very special and tomorrow they will have no way of making a mistake. It will be a difficult day that will see them first against EG, who will try with their aggression to make their way in the semifinals, and after being against the first in the RNG standings. For their part there is the potential, as they have shown in the last few days above all: so the only team that cannot, mathematically, fight for the semifinal are the Vietnamese of the SGB team who snatched a victory from PSG by earning the first point of stage 2, a point that is worth more for pride than for the ranking. Meanwhile, here is the ranking at the end of Day 4 of Rumble Stage:

  • RNG (China)
  • T.1  (Corea)
  • G2  (Europa)
  • E.G  (Nord America)
  • PSG (Asia Pacific)
  • SGB (Vietnam)
  • Day-5 di Rumble Stage

The fifth (and last) day of the second phase of the MSI will see, as already mentioned, the teams quite agitated. Who will want to win (again) for pride (SGB), who instead to remain the most dominant and extend the win-streak (Rng), who will fight for a place in the semifinals.

Each match will be played in a “direct match” (Best of 1) as it was throughout the stage, and in the event of any equal-merit situations, in addition to the six guaranteed matches, there will be play-offs to define the positions in the standings. Here is the schedule for tomorrow:

[G2 vs SGB] – [EG vs PSG] – [SGB vs T1] – [PSG vs RNG] – [EG vs G2] – [T1 vs RNG]

For anyone wishing to follow them, this is possible on the official site of lolesports or on Twitch on the PG_Esports_LoL channels, for the record with Italian casters, or on that of Riot Games, for the English one. Channels that only yesterday had peaks of 8,000 viewers (Pg_Esports_LoL) and more than 200,000 viewers for the official Riot channel.

Exceptionally, due to the possibility of attending the play-offs, it will start at 8 in the morning. Will G2 be able to pass phase 2? We just have to hope for our European favorites.
