As per the calendar, one month later, according to the promises made, LG has announced the upcoming arrival, also in Europe, of the new Gram products which this time not only include notebooks, but also a portable screen.
After presenting the new hardware in the domestic market last month, LG has also announced for the West (North America and Europe) and Asia the portable + View screen and the entire set-up of the new ultra-light LG Gram laptops for 2022 .
The new LG Gram 2022 are substantiated in the traditional models LG Gram 17 (17Z90Q), Gram 16 (16Z90Q), Gram 15 (15Z90Q), Gram 14 (14Z90Q), and in the Gram 2-in-1 convertibles of 16 and 14 “( 16T90Q and 14T90Q). Contained in ecological packaging, usable after unboxing as pen holders or desk calendars, the new laptops are all very light (respectively 1.35 kg or 1.44 with Nvidia, 1.2 kg or 1.29 with Nvidia, 1, 14 kg, 1 kg, 1.48 kg) but also resistant (MIL-STD-810G certification).
The displays of traditional models, LCD IPS, provide a resolution of 2560 x 1600 for the 17 and 16-inch models, from 1920 × 1080 pixels for the 15-inch, and from 1920 × 1200 for the 14-inch: the brightness reaches 350 nits and there is an anti-glare treatment for outdoor use, while graphic designers will appreciate 99% coverage on the DCI-P3 color space. In the convertible, touch, and Gorilla Glass Victus models, we range from the 16-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) resolution to the 14-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200), but always with 300 nits of brightness. Thanks to the Mirametrix Glance program (a dowry also on Lenovo notebooks) the screen goes to lock when the user moves away while, if someone peeks behind, it reveals alert and darkens.
Attested the presence of the LG Stylus Pen (via Wacom AES 2.0 digitizer) in favor of the convertible models, the LG Gram 2022 adopt a FullHD webcam with an IR sensor for biometrics and pay attention to video conferences thanks to the stereo speakers (a pair of 1.5W), HD Audio output, support for the DTS X Ultra standard, and AI-canceling microphones for background noise.
Compared to the 2021 models, the manufacturer boasts a 22% performance increase: the credit goes to the 12th generation Intel processors of the Alder Lake family, generally combined with integrated graphics cards (Intel UHD Graphics on i3, Iris Xe on i5 and i7 ), although the option for the dedicated Nvidia RTX 2050 GPU equipped with 4GB of GDDR6 reserved memory is contemplated in some models (the first two, 16 and 17 ”). The dual channel RAM, of the 5,200MHz LPDDR5 type, is expected in 8/16/32 GB, while the SSD storage provides two slots with the fast 4th generation NVMe interface.
Chargeable at 65W, the LG Gram 2022s are equipped, depending on the models mentioned, with 80 Wh batteries in the first two cases (90 Wh if with dedicated GPU), as well as in the third and fifth models: the fourth model (LG Gram 14 ( 14Z90Q) has a 72Wh battery, like the smaller convertible (LG Gram 14 2-in-1 14T90Q). In terms of ports, there is a microSD, a 3.5mm jack, two Thunderbolt 4 via Type-C , as many USB Type-A (reduced to one on convertibles) and an HDMI output (absent on convertibles).
