To celebrate 60 years of its history, under the motto “Shaping the future of High-Fidelity”, the British brand KEF, leader in premium audio, has announced the LS60W active loudspeakers, basically a floor version of the most versatile but already known LS50 Wireless II, on sale from next month at the price of 5,999 euros.

Designed in Titanium Gray, Royal Blue, Mineral White finishes, the LS60W are equipped with an integrated amplification system, which combines class A, B and D amplifiers, fielding a power of 1,400W. With a physical connection between the left and right speakers, it is possible to pass the 24-bit / 192 kHz signal (24-bit / 384kHz PCM with MQA and DSD files) but, using wireless, thanks to a proprietary low mode latency, 96 kHz passthrough can be achieved.

Uni-Core 13mm drivers with 19mm dome tweeter and 10cm aluminum cone use the Uni-Core design, which features concentric overlapping coils and a single magnet. the size of the speakers in question is very compact, so much so that they are sized with the width of a CD, the length of an iPhone 12 Pro and high to the waist, but obtaining a deeper sound even in a minimum space. The manufacturer has foreseen other improvements, such as the MAT technology which, by placing a labyrinth of channels behind each tweeter, each suitable for a particular frequency (in terms of size and length), absorbs the distortions otherwise directed inside.

In the LS60W active loudspeakers there is no shortage of new Z-Flex suspensions and, again in favor of the aforementioned drivers, a decoupling mechanism of the cones that rewards the high frequencies.

Equipped with Music Integrity Engine, a Digital signal processor to optimize the audio output, which can be added to a subwoofer through the appropriate low-level output, the LS60W speakers have an extensive plethora of connectivity: among these, the RCA analog port, the optical coaxial S / PDIF and HDMI with eARC, allow wired connections to sources, with wireless connections obtainable via Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and DLNA. Other avenues, then, are opened by obtaining the certification, for the multi-device and multi-room, Roon Ready.
