The MateBook 14 Non-Touchscreen Edition loses touch, and a few grams, which, compared to the original model of 2021, is also cheaper (around 53 euros) and updated to Windows 11.

Active for some time also in the notebook branch, the Chinese company Huawei, according to local media reports, has presented a new laptop of which it is not known whether it will arrive in the West, represented by the MateBook 14 Non-Touchscreen Edition, currently in pre -order in China with sales set for April 17th.

Curiously, the new laptop does not appear to be the non-touch version of the model seen at the beginning of 2022, but resembles in specifications, precisely net of the touch (with an attached price saving), to the model of the previous year. Specifically, the MateBook 14 Non-Touchscreen Edition has a chassis (307.5 mm x 223.8 mm x 15.9 mm, for 1.49 kg) with a fingerprint scanner hidden in the power button, in so that the user is authenticated as soon as the laptop is started.

On the sides of its body, the MateBook 14 Non-Touchscreen Edition has an HDMI port, a 3.5 mm jack, two 1st generation USB 3.2, and a USB Type-C (also valid as DisplayPort and for charging): a facing the typing area (with full-size backlit keyboard and touchpad with multi-touch) intervenes, with a panoramic ratio of 3: 2 and a screen-to-body of 90%, a 14 “FullView” IPS LCD screen inches resolved at 2160 x 1440 pixels, with 300 nits of brightness, and 100% sRGB color space coverage.

To animate the Huawei MateBook 14 Non-Touchscreen Edition, the quadcore processor (4.20 GHz in Turbo Boost) i5-1135G7, a chip with 8 threads, made with 10 nanometers of lithography which, being from the 11th Intel generation, brings here as a dowry the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics card: on a mnemonic level, the set-up – priced at 5,399 yuan, about 78’0 euro – provides 16 GB for RAM and 512 GB for SSD storage (PCIe NVMe).

In the chassis, in favor of the processing section, Huawei has also found space for a heat dissipation system, which uses two copper heatpipes and as many Shark Fin fans: equipped with classic connectivity, such as Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi dual band ac, fully equipped for video calls being also equipped with a 720P HD webcam in a capsule at the top of the keyboard, and four microphones and two speakers, the MateBook 14 Non-Touchscreen Edition has a 56 Wh battery which, valid for 11 hours of autonomy, is charged in 15 minutes by the attached 65W charger. Finally, on the software side, there is Windows 11, with the usual Huawei features for quick pairing with the smartphone of the same manufacturer (placing it on the touchpad and sharing the screen and app via Huawei Share).
