Meta Officially Launches AI Characters in the US

Earlier this year, Meta introduced its new ones AI charactersincluding those based on real-life celebrities including Paris Hilton, MrBeast, Kendall Jenner, Tom Brady, Charli D’Amelio e Snoop Dog. Today, the company announced that its 28 AI characters have been fully released for users in the United States. These can now chat on WhatsApp, Messenger e Instagram with their favorite characters. Meta then stated that many of her AI characters will support the Bing-based search and they will begin to experience the “long-term memory“. This means that the characters will learn and they will remember the conversation once finished. While this might seem like an advantage, on the other hand Meta will have the ability to retain user data in order to improve its AI products over time. Initially, this feature will only be active on some characters, including Billie, based on Kendell Jenner.

AI Meta Characters: Bing Search support and more privacy for users

Users will still be able to preserve theirs privacy everytime. These will in fact have the possibility to clear history chats with the characters. Additionally, Meta’s use of chat data shall follow Generative AI privacy guidelines. In addition to long-term memory, several AI characters will have the ability to access Bing Search. This ability has been present on the characters Bru (based on Tom Brady) and Perry (based on Chris Paul) since their debut. Chatting with AI characters is simple. All you need to do is access one of the Meta apps (Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp) and then select “Create an AI chat”.

As already mentioned, to date the AI ​​characters are available to all users in the United States. Meta has not revealed when these will also be available in other countries (including Europe). However, it is likely that this new feature will land overseas in the early months of 2024.
