At the height of several weeks of rumors, Lenovo presented two Motorola-branded smartphones in the US, with the 2022 editions of the Moto G and the Moto G Stylus 5G.
In addition to OnePlus and Xiaomi, Motorola (Lenovo) has also granted itself a day of announcements, unleashing the mid-range Moto G (on sale from April 28, after today’s pre-orders, at a price of 499.99 dollars) and G Stylus 5G (from May 19, at $ 399.99) in the 2022 version, which collect – starting from the USA – the legacy of the respective iterations that appeared between November 2020 and June 2021, updating the specifications upwards.
The Moto G 2022, declined in the Moonlight Gray color, prints on the front of the chassis (165.4 × 75.8 × 9.44 mm for 204 grams) a panoramic IPS LCD display (20: 9), very reactive (90 Hz), but whose diagonal, from 6.5 inches, it is resolute only in HD +: the frames, not too optimized, allow only 88% of screen-to-body.
Placing the fingerprint scanner on the side, the manufacturer has inserted the 13 megapixel self-camera (f / 2.2, 1.12 micrometers for pixels, clips up to FullHD @ 30fps) in the upper front hole. The back of the body (waterproof, according to the IP52 level) offers a triple camera, in which two 2 megapixel accessory sensors for macro and depth (f / 2.4, 1.75 micrometer pixels) , company with a 50 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.8, 4-in-1 pixel binning for 12.5 megapixel photos with little noise, starting pixels from 0.64 micrometers then brought to 1.3). The “engine” of the Moto G 2022 is the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, with 6 + 256 GB of RAM and storage (expandable by another 512 GB via microSD). In addition to the screen, even the battery, albeit from 5,000 mAh, has a penalty, being able to charge only at 10W: the autonomy, on the other hand, is long and sufficient for the wide audience of connectivity with Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS with Glonass, 3.5 mm mini-jack, 4 and 5G, but without NFC for payments.
Like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the new Moto G Stylus 2022 also has an integrated stylus, perhaps for taking notes with the Moto Note tool. Cadenced in the shades Steel Blue, Seafoam Green, the chassis of the device (168.9 × 75.8 × 9.3 mm, for 215grams) does not improve the frames (83%) and confirms the hole for the self-camera, here from 16 megapixels (f / 2.2 , 1 micrometer quad pixel by pixel, FullHD @ 30fps video). The octacore processor passes into the hands of Qualcomm, which brought the Snapdragon 695 chip with its modem for 5G sub-6GHz (not included in the 4G model of last February): RAM and storage (here expandable by 1 TB) , they match in the 8 + 256 GB pair. The battery, from 5,000 mAh, enjoys fast charging, supporting both the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and the owner TurboPower 10 while, in terms of connectivity, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, micro USB Type-C also stand out. the 3.5 mm mini-jack, GPS (Beidou, Glonass, Galileo) and NFC for payments. As in the other model, Android 12 remains under the My UX interface with the related Actions (gesture).
