MacOS download available, update to version 14 of the Mac operating system with several new features
Like every year Apple presents a new version of the Mac operating system, excellent for keeping Macs and MacBooks up to date. The new edition of macOS is known as Sonoma and is identifiable with the version number 14.In the following guide we will show you what are the new features of macOS 14 Sonoma and how we can update our Mac to the new version for free. 1) New features in macOS 14 Sonoma
The most important new feature is the ability to add gods convenient widgets directly on the desktop and access the Widget gallery, choosing from the most used ones. The widgets are perfectly matched with the chosen background, thus avoiding distracting while using apps. By taking advantage of the Continuity function, iPhone widgets can be launched directly on Mac.
Another new feature concerns video conferences with Presenter Overlaya new particularly innovative video effect, where the person presenting is positioned as a moving bubble within the presentation or within the video being broadcast.
Also with video conferences are available Reactions (to share reactions by easily adding balloons, confetti, hearts and more) and the selettore Screen Sharing enhanced, useful for screen and app sharing during video calls.
Safari comes Enhanced to the max for security and privacy: in private browsing, advanced anti-tracking and fingerprinting protections are activated by default, so as to prevent tracking by harmful websites and banners.
The other innovations concern theapp optimization for new Apple chips (including latest generation games), new interactive screensavers, optimization for popular game controllers (Xbox and PlayStation), Game Mode for any game you launch, integrated PDFs in Notes, and improved credential management access (Password and Touch ID, saved with next-generation end-to-end encryption).
2) Compatible devices
Before proceeding with the actual update we must check if our Mac or MacBook is compatible with the new operating system. macOS 14 Sonoma is compatible with the following devices:
- iMac 2019 or later
- iMac Pro
- MacBook Air 2018 or later
- MacBook Pro 2018 or later
- Mac Pro 2019 or later
- Mac Studio 2022 or later
- Mac Mini 2018 or later
To check the year of the device in use, all we have to do is press on the bitten apple icon at the top left, press on the item About this Mac and check the model and year of reference, so you can compare it with the list above.
3) How to download Mac updates
Before downloading macOS 14 Sonoma we always advise you to carry out a complete backup of personal dataso that you can at least recover your files in case of problems.
After the backup we can immediately proceed with the update by pressing the menu at the top left Appleby clicking on System settingsby pressing up General and then on Software update.
In the window that opens, click on Update now to apply the new update; we restart when requested by the Mac and patiently wait for the end of the update process (which could be long).
