In case there was still any doubt, just yesterday it finally fell. The new one was officially presented OnePlus Openthe first leaflet from the Chinese company that has always represented exclusivity.
For the first time OnePlus enters this very particular segment and does it great, offering a very well made device. Aesthetically, there are several goodies that characterize the new Open, as well as under the bonnet; the hardware is the important ones and the display it is one of a kind. Now the challenge to the Google Pixel Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is open.
The design of the new OnePlus Open is unique
As had already been announced, the new Open is not at all different from the Oppo Find N3, presented a few hours earlier. Aesthetics is precisely the feature that plays the role of strong point, this smartphone being a foldable one.
The play of light that comes out of the magnificent matte glass on the outside is truly wonderful and gives a premium look to the terminal. The thickness is probably the real highlight, since when open the smartphone measures only 5.8 mm. The weight is 245 grams, not really much if you consider that it is made up of two pieces.
The latter are joined by a hinge Flexion a drop of water that has been patented to resist even 1 million times during opening and closing. If on the one hand the OnePlus Open shows the back cover with the circular photographic body in the foreground, on the other hand here is the first OLED display, but it will be when the phone is opened that the scenario will change.
The technical specifications
As we were saying, it is at the opening that this new Open shows all its magnificence. Here is a display OLED and 7,82″ of amplitude with an extraordinary resolution in 2K at 2440 x 2268 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The feature that makes this panel unique is the brightness: with its 2800 nits peak is the brightest display on the market.
Returning to the secondary screen, the one shown externally, it is also an OLED and has a diagonal of 6,31″ with an aspect ratio of 20:9. Here too the peak brightness is 2800 nits with impeccable protection provided by Super Ceramic glass.
Moving on to the technical specifications, everything is driven by the top of the range from Qualcomm, that is Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. They will help the wealthy processor 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM memory. Archiving allows you to keep data for 512 GB on UFS 4.0 architecture. There is also support for Wi-Fi 7 and Dual 5G.
What makes the OnePlus Open really interesting is the battery, which with its 4805 mAh makes him a champion of autonomy. Don’t worry about charging: thanks to the power of 67W and the technology SuperVOOC 42 minutes will be enough to go from 0 to 100%.
Photographic and multimedia sector
The photographic sector does justice to this top of the range, with the main main sensor on the back being from 48 MP. This is a Sony LYT-T808 “Pixel Stacked” with OIS. Also available a periscope sensor from 64 MP OmniVision OV64B con OIS e 3x optical zoom. The third and final sensor is an ultra-wide from 48 MP Sony IMX581.
The shots will be truly exceptional thanks to the presence of technology Dual-Layer Transistor Pixel. In short, the architecture of the pixels has been redesigned, which will not be located next to each other but will be overlapped, thus increasing the light absorbed by the sensor. There are also some goodies designed by Hasselbladwhich also in this case places its first on the OnePlus photographic sector.
Being foldable, there are two cameras dedicated to selfies: one on the external display and one on the internal display. The first is from 32 MP while the second gives 20 MP.
On the audio side, it is an exceptional device thanks to the presence of spatial speakers along the body, all supported by the Dolby Atmos.
