By now the Oukitel WP18 model, the Chinese brand famous for its low cost smartphones, with great autonomy and often also armored, has created a sort of variation, the following one (from 23 May, in world premiere at 229.26 euros on Aliexpress) Oukitel WP20, with small variations in design and a battery that is always above average, but more “human”.

Oukitel WP20 (black, black with green or orange finishes) has all the certifications necessary for a rugged phone, and therefore is waterproof according to IP68 and IP69K standards (high pressure or temperature splashes) and withstands bumps and falls having passed the MIL-STD-810G military tests. Armored at the corners, frontally present very thick bezels, especially at the top and bottom, with the “front panel” that offers him the ease of hosting the 5 megapixel self-camera, designed for face recognition and biometric face unlock.

With an aspect ratio of 18: 9, the 5.93-inch display consists of a resolute TFT panel in HD +, and thus 720 × 1440 pixels, with 271 PPI. Turned, the square bumper for the multi-camera is moved, compared to the predecessor, to the left, and houses, together with the LED Flash, a dual camera, in which there is a main 20 megapixel sensor and an auxiliary one to capture more light in the shots taken. in low light contexts.

The Oukitel WP20 certainly does not shine for performance, given as powered by a 4-core processor from Mediatek’s creative forge, with the MT6761 SoC, basically a 2.0 GHz maximum clock Helio A22, which relies on the contribution of the PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The RAM stops at 4 GB, and the storage at 32 GB but, on the other hand, in this case, you can use a microSD to have more space. Too bad that this involves the renunciation of one of the two SIMs predisposed for 4G, since the slot is hybrid.

Wi-Fi ac / 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 LE (A2DP) connectivity, in addition to GPS, complete the technical picture of the Oukitel WP20, powered by a 6,300 mAh battery, chargeable at 10W, which promises 550 hours of stand- by, 60 hours of music, 55 hours of calls, and 9.5 hours of video playing. The operating system chosen, finally, without excessive proprietary sophistication and therefore almost stock, is Android 12.
