Expected since the beginning of the year, after the presentations at CES 2022, at the end LG has unveiled which series of QNED smart TVs will also arrive in the Italian market which, perhaps, could also welcome the QNED96 expected in the rest of Europe.
After the first hints at CES 2022 in Las Vegas at the beginning of the year, LG has explained additional details of its new range of smart TVs with QNED technology expected for the Italian market starting from the month of April that has just begun.
In the command position, in the new batch of televisions with Quantum NanoCell Color Technology, there is the QNED99 8K series: the latter offers resolute UHD LCD (probably IPS) panels, diagonalized in the 65, 75 and 85 ″ cuts, with a refresh rate of 100/120 Hz: the mini LEDs ensure precise brightness control through Precision Dimming Pro + technology: in the 86 “monstre” variant the Full LED Array backlighting with local dimming allows, thanks to 30 thousand mini LEDs, to obtain between 2,400 and 2,500 control zones. At the processing level, the Alpha 9 processor and the webOS 22 operating system come into play.
One step below (e.g. for the control areas guaranteed by the Full LED Array backlighting with local dimming), the QNED91 series, aesthetically similar to all the others in the recap, uses UHD LCD, obviously with Quantum NanoCell Color Technology, in the 65, 75 and 85 “diagonals: to animate them, together with the webOS 22, is the Alpha 7 processor, which offers its help in managing the image enhancement technologies supplied, such as the Precision Dimming Pro with Mini LED.
The QNED87 series declines its UHD LCDs in the 55, 65, 75 and 85 “sizes: here too the hypothesis of the IPS is valid. The refresh rate is between 100 and 120 Hz and the Precision Dimming technology with Mini LED is also always present: the backlight, although borrowed from the higher series, and therefore via Precision Dimming thanks to the mini LEDs, offers fewer control areas. Processor (Alpha 7) and firmware (webOS 22) are also confirmed in this case.
The QNED81 / QNED82 series share almost all the specifications: we speak, therefore, of the Quantum NanoCell Color Technology applied to UHD LCD with 100/120 Hz refresh rate, with local dimming, however, which is only “Dimming Pro”, at the sign of a differentiation with the higher-end series also highlighted in the backlighting, here of the Edge LED type with local dimming. As differences between the two series, we start from the aesthetics to get to the diagonals: the QNED81 is finished in Dark Meteor Titan, and has cuts of 50, 55 and 65 “. Otherwise, the QNED82 is finished in Frozen Silver, and is provided in diagonals of 50, 55, 65 and 75 ”. It should be noted that, in the absence of official confirmations, it seems likely that the 50 ”cuts are VA in terms of panel type, while all the highs should be IPS.
