Without too much fanfare, the Xiaomi sub-brand has announced, for now in China, an office display, the Redmi Monitor 21.45 ″, with FullHD resolution, NTSC support, 75 Hz refresh rate, extremely affordable in price.

Redmi, under the brand of Xiaomi, does not only operate in the branch of smartphones or smart TVs, as also confirmed by a certain production of displays. Precisely in this hardware category falls its latest announcement, concerning the low cost office display Redmi Monitor 21.45 ″, currently in pre-order in the Chinese domestic market, through the e-commerce Jingdong Mall and Xiaomi Mall, at a price of 499 yuan. corresponding to around 74 euros at the current exchange rate.
The look of the Redmi Monitor 21.45 ″ (495.8 x 165 x 381.8 mm for 2.5 kg) is very simple: the plastic chassis shows well-optimized frames on 3 sides, with a more evident but not awkward chin.
The back of the Redmi Monitor 21.45 ″ houses two ports, including a VGA and an HDMI 1.4 while the whole, resting on a support with a rectangular base complete with height adjustment, can also be hooked to the wall, via VESA connection, in so as not to take up valuable desk space. From a technical point of view, the panel used is a 21.45-inch IPS LCD (with a viewing angle of 178 °) resolved in FullHD (therefore 1920 × 1080 pixels).
In detail, it is a panel with vertically aligned (VA) LEDs, equipped with some eye protection devices, such as the DC Dimming anti-flicker and the “low blue-ray” low blue light emission certification issued by TÜV Rheinland body: capable of supporting 8-bit color depth, the Redmi Monitor 21.45 ″ has a contrast ratio of 3,000: 1, an amount of 72% for coverage on the NTSC color gamut, and a – typical – value of 300 nits for brightness.
The claimed refresh rate reaches 75 Hz, which is more than the 60 Hz on average, but less than the 90 that are judged by the most necessary to make it a good gaming peripheral. On the other hand, the declared consumption, equal to 24W, makes the Redmi 21.45 ″ a product with high energy efficiency.
