Although incorporated by the Chinese parent company Foxconn, the Japanese brand Sharp retains a certain productive autonomy, in the context of which it has formalized its new top telephone range which, under the name of Sharp AQUOS R7, animated by Android 12 via its proprietary interface, will be available. (as well as in black) also in silver version, at the Docomo site, with the name of AQUOS R7 SH-52C (with 1% of the proceeds donated to the Red Cross of the Rising Sun).
Heir to the May 2021 model, the new (from July 2022) AQUOS R7 is protected front and back (with the benefit of wireless charging) by Gorilla Glass Victus, making it waterproof (IP6X) and immune to dust (IPX5 / IPX8). Frontally, the device mounts a proprietary 6.6-inch OLED Pro IGZO panel, resolved in WUXGA + (1260 x 2730 pixels), with a dynamic refresh rate from 1 to 240 Hz, a 10-bit color depth, 2,000 nits of brightness, the support for Dolby Vision, and an underlying scanner (Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max) for fingerprints (ultrasonic type). Confirmed the hole in the top center, the self-camera placed there is 12.6 megapixel (f / 2.3, 27 mm).
The rear offers, with a design reminiscent of the orbits of a planet, a 47.2 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.9, electronic stabilization, QBC quad bayer coding, Leica Sumicron lens with 60% reduction of reflections compared to the R6) from 1 inch, with a focal length corresponding to 19 mm: this sensor benefits from octa PD all-pixel autofocus thanks to which it doubles the focusing speed of a traditional system, for the benefit of moving subjects, on which the user it can focus both on the whole figure and on the face and eyes.
According to the company, this sensor supports HDR shooting and shooting, RAW format, burst of continuous shooting and 8K video. The secondary sensor that “orbits” around the main one is a 1.9 megapixel ToF (time of fly) for depth in Portrait mode. There is no lack of audio up to the occasion thanks to “enlarged” speakers.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a 4 nanometer octacore (3 GHz) made at Samsung’s foundries, paired with the Adreno 730 GPU, uses 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage expandable via microSD others 1 TB. The Sharp AQUOS R7 features a fast-charging 5,000 mAh battery, as well as various connectivities, such as standalone and non-standalone 5G, dual band 802.11ax / 6 Wi-Fi, GPS (Glonass), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC for contactless payments (via FeliCa), the Dual 4G VoLTE, the 3.5 mm mini-jack, and the micro USB Type-C.
