Thanks to the work of the research company IDC it was possible to analyze the smartphone market regarding the first quarter of 2024.
The entire industry, it seems, has seen the shipment of ben 289.4 million productswith an overall increase of 7,8% compared to the first 90 days of last year.
Driving the market is Samsungcon 60.1 million of units shipped, confirming (with an imperceptible drop of 0.7%) the trend recorded in the same period of 2023 also thanks to the numbers recorded by Galaxy S24. Second place is confirmed Apple, even if the Cupertino company has very little to smile about. Despite the 10 million shipmentsIn fact, the company recorded a drastic drop in sales equal to 9,6%.
However, it must be said that Apple still recorded a considerable increase last year and, in this sense, a decrease of this type could be more than physiological.
The 2024 smartphone market in the name of Samsung and emerging brands
The biggest surprise is the Chinese manufacturer Transsionstill little known today, capable of recording potential growth on an annual basis equal to84,99%. The company, it seems, is pushing hard in markets such as Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. Still in the context of the Asian country, it also performs very well Xiaomiwith a growth of 33,8%.
An IDC spokesperson wanted to analyze the data collected, highlighting how the recovery of the smartphone market continues, with Samsung and Apple firmly remaining the leaders in the sector.
According to researchers, these two prestigious brands represent the high end of the sector, with Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO/OnePlus and Transsion who are trying to carve out a slice of users, covering lower price ranges.
Huawei itself is causing a stir online for the recent launch of a smartwatch for less than 40 euros.
