An important news will be coming soon will limit the display of certain content and websites designed specifically and exclusively for an adult audience using smartphones, preventing their access.

Between the sites off limits for minors there will undoubtedly be porn sites and those dedicated to gambling, but not only. To establish it is a new regulatory framework, which will come into force in the next few days thanks to a resolution by the Communications Guarantor (AgCom). Let’s find out all the details.

Contents prohibited for minors, when the new legislation comes into force

The date set for the launch of the new legislation is on November 21, 2023. In a few weeks, minors will no longer be able to view certain contents from their smartphones, regardless of the parental control services activated on the children’s mobile devices.

The Communications Guarantor, after having identified some gaps in the previous legislation and having discovered that some telephone companies did not offer the right parental control services or only did so for a fee, opted for a more targeted and incisive intervention.

Access to dangerous sites and content will be automatically blocked for all those sims that are registered to a minor. The intervention of parents will no longer be necessary and there will no longer be differences between the various operators, who will have to adapt to the rules.

If the SIM is not registered in the minor’s name, but in the name of a parent or another adult, the limitations will not be automatic. In that case it will be necessary request activation from the operator, which must necessarily be free. Other services, such as antivirus, antimalware, antispam and more, may continue to be offered for a fee, with the consent of the SIM holder.

Contents prohibited for minors, such as those identified by AgCom

The new legislation, in addition to indicating ways to make minors’ smartphones safer, including those with a SIM registered in the name of an adult, has identified eight categories of sites to which access should be prohibited to those who have not yet reached the age of eighteen.

Among these there are not only porn sites and those dedicated to gambling and betting, but also all portals that promote violencediscrimination, hatred towards others and towards oneself, those where dangerous products such as weapons can be purchased, pages that present content harmful to health, those in which satanic sects are spoken of and all sites for browsing anonymous.

Operators and parents will not be able to intervene to modify the list of blocked pages for the sim intestates of minors.
