Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 official, Qualcomm focuses on AI and efficiency

The new top-of-the-range processor was officially presented in Hawaii Qualcommlo Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The rumors thus come to an end, culminating in what is pure reality: a concentration of power and novelty.

This time the company chose an architecture based on three clusters which will have different cores, frequencies and targets. Within the spec sheet one thing is clear: they are 2 in fact the cores that will take care of the lightest operations and processes, with a maximum of 2.3GHz of power required. This choice will allow excellent energy efficiency.

Instead they are even 5 the cores that are in the middle, with a clock power of 3.2GHz, really high value. The prime core, a Cortex-X4instead it develops a power equal to 3.3GHz.

If on the one hand you can see the raw power thanks to what was described a few lines previously, on the other you can see great efficiency. As regards performance, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, based on a production process 4 nmshows a 30% more than its predecessor. Not bad energy efficiency gains a +20%.

Great development also regarding AI, with the new AI Engine for generative artificial intelligence. This consists of a Kryo CPU, an Adreno GPU and a Hexagon NPU. It was stated during the presentation that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will deliver high AI performance with amazing experiences.

Big improvements also for the new GPU Adrenocapable of providing a performance improvement equal to 25% more. Thanks to its presence it will be possible to play titles capable of reaching up to 240 fps and also with resolution in 8K. The new Adreno also holds support for the system for the first time Unreal Engine 5 Lumen Global Illumination and Reflections.

There is no doubt: it is the most powerful chip and at the same time modern and balanced. We now await the challenge next November from MediaTek with its Dimensity 9300.
