Speed up video on PC and Mac
On PC and Mac, if you are watching a video and you want fast forward, just use the program VLC Media Player, available for both Windows and Mac.
Any movie we are seeing we can speed up the playback by opening the menu at the top Reproduction, subsequently opening the menu Speed and choosing from the items Faster O Faster (fine). If we want to speed up only some parts we load the entire video in the timeline and use the menu I split to cut the video snippets to speed up, so let’s use the menu again Speed on the new fragments. To save the new speeded up video, click on the top Finish the video then we choose the quality and the path in which to save the new video.
Your Mac we can also use the program iMovie, which should already be installed on our system and which we can also quickly retrieve from the App Store integrated into the Mac.
On iMovie, the button to use after opening the video to be edited is present at the top right above the video (in the shape of a speedometer), where we can customize the speed of the video according to our needs. Here, too, it is possible to divide the video into different parts and speed up only some of them, leaving the others at normal speed.
If, on the other hand, we are looking for a free program to speed up videos on Windows and Mac, we can rely on Avidemux, a valid open source program dedicated to rapid video editing.
To make the most of this program, we don’t have to do is open it, press up on Open Video, add the video we want to speed up, change the video output on Mpeg4 AVC (x264) and press the key Filters immediately below. Once the window with the filters is open, let’s go to the section Transform, click on the filter Change FPS and we choose a value higher than 60 FPS to speed up the video according to your needs. After modifying the filter let’s apply it by pressing on OK come on Close; to save the video just press up on Save video and choose a path on the PC.

Speed up videos on Android and iPhone / iPad
If we want to speed up the videos during playback we can rely on the mobile version of VLC, downloadable for free from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
Once the app is installed, we start the video to speed up, open the VLC options menu and press on the item Playback speed, so you can immediately change the speed by accelerating it a little (so as to speed up the sound too) or accelerating it to a higher speed (in this case the sound will disappear as long as the high speed is maintained).
The iMovie app can also be used on iPhone and iPad, all we have to do is download it for free from the Apple App Store.
On this app, after separating the scenes, we can change the speed of the video by touching the icon to change the playback speed, with a handy bar to adjust it. After the modification, there is nothing left to do but save the video with the changes just made in the internal memory of the Apple device, ready to be shared on social networks or in some chat.
On Android, on the other hand, we can speed up videos using the free app PowerDirector, available from the Google Play Store.
With this app, all we have to do is load the video to be accelerated within the interface, press the pencil-shaped icon and then open the Speed menu (in the shape of a speedometer), so that we can change the speed of the video or video fragments (achievable from the app itself). At the end let’s not forget to save the new video in MP4, so that you can share it with great ease on other apps on your phone.
Your iPhone we can also use an app to create accelerated videos like Hyperlapse on Instagram, downloadable directly from the Apple App Store.
This app, never released on Android, will allow you to shoot videos and then accelerate them up to 12X, with the possibility of also using the stabilizer during direct capture. After using the app we will be able to share it immediately on Facebook or Instagram, without first having to download it into the memory (a proprietary uploading system will be used, as all the aforementioned apps are owned by Facebook).
