Spotify: bug vari, novità Car Thing, Greenroom diventa Spotify Live

The well-known Swedish streaming Spotify, suffering from a series of curious bugs for a few hours, in the meantime has released a novelty that greatly improves (for now in favor of iOS users) the experience of those who use its Car Thing accessory: in the at the same time, the communication of various changes regarding live programming arrived from the Stockholm headquarters.

In the past few hours, Spotify has recorded, according to reports received on Reddit and Twitter, several malfunctions. For example, when playing a song, the “Now Playing” bar disappeared, making it impossible to skip the track, pause it, or stop playing it. No less annoying were two other problems encountered, starting from the fact that, when starting the app, users found the Home loaded and not the last playback card, as if the platform forgot the playback history. Finally, in terms of use in the car, it happened that, by turning off the vehicle’s Bluetooth, Spotify did not interrupt and instead continued to play music on the previously connected mobile device.

When asked about it, Spotify has limited the problem to those who use the Android iteration of its client on Samsung devices, even if it has not provided explanations or a timing for the resolution of the problems that, for now, can be addressed by restarting the app. .

Those who can benefit from a series of big news in Spotify sauce are, for now, American users, who can use the Car Thing accessory (89.99 dollars), to take advantage of their music account in those vehicles that do not have Apple Car Thing. or Android Auto. Specifically, first of all, the Spotify user experience of the dongle in question has been improved, since it is now possible to add music or podcasts to the queue in various ways (with the phrase “Hey Spotify, in queue” followed by the name of a song, by holding down the physical control while a song is selected, or by touching the appropriate item “Add to queue” located next to each song. Again with the update in question, the Car Thing becomes more useful, as it can be used to control the music playback of the connected smartphone, even if it does not come from Spotify (to whose service it is always possible to return via voice commands or touch), and to manage hands-free calls, since it allows you to view who is calling, to ignore the call or to answer you.

In the past, Spotify’s intention has emerged to “absorb” the functions of the subsidiary Greenroom, which allows you to create audio-only chats with the right to be recorded. In view of this goal, the Swedish streaming has announced some steps that, essentially, put the two realities in very close synergy.

We start by renaming Greenroom (whose shows will migrate to Spotify in the coming months) in Spotify Live. On the main Spotify app there will be live content from popular creators (for now American) and the related Home will start to offer live shows based on the tastes and preferences of users: the latter, from the main app, by turning to the page of the artist or directly from the creator’s podcast, they will be able to tune in to the live programming but, if they want to join the guest on stage or participate in the chat, they will have to do so by logging into the Spotify Live app.
