In “realizing the impossible”, Spotify has launched a function, Supergrouper, which will allow the ideal playlist to be created by the band of their dreams, also bringing together artists from different eras.

Recently, Spotify joined the ranks of entertainment platforms in crisis (like Netflix previously), announcing that it has to reduce the number of new hires by 25%: in “tightening the belt”, the team of CEO Daniel Ek does not however, it has lost its creative verve, so much so that, while the signals of the future Community function multiply, the Live Events Feed has already been launched, showing concerts and live events nearby. Another one of a social nature has just been added to this novelty.
In the new press release released by the Swedish platform, mention is made of the launch of the new “Supergrouper” function which aims to achieve the impossible, by making artists who have never done it before collaborate together in the creation of a common playlist, or for lack of opportunities / will, or simply because “passed away” and other eras.
To take advantage of the function, apparently limited to the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, and the USA, but fully functional also in Italy albeit for now in English, it is sufficient to have the latest updated version of the app installed on your smartphone, since the generated playlist is shown and played in-app. Once this preliminary step has been completed, just open the “spotify.com/supergrouper” page from your favorite mobile browser (without quotes, and starting the address as usual with https: //).
At this point, it will be necessary to choose from 3 to 5 artists, assigning each one a role among those proposed (The Lead – the guide, The Lyricist – the lyricist, The Wildcard – the jolly, The Up-And-Comer – the emerging, The Producer), or letting the AI do it itself (random).
The next step of the Supergrouper function, which can be skipped, requires you to choose (from those proposed) two expressions to give a name to the band of your dreams and to conclude everything, with the browser that will show a cover / sticker for the collection generated by our super group, shareable on social networks (e.g. between Instagram Stories or Snapchat) and the button to listen to what is put together, as mentioned in-app.
