As the too precise indiscretions of the eve showed, Microsoft actually took advantage of the beginning of June to formalize the arrival on the market, in just over a month and a half of its new entry level Surface Laptop Go 2.
After the advances of the past few hours, by the leakers, but also due to an announcement of pre-orders left early in South Korea, the economic notebook Surface Laptop Go 2 was finally officially presented, heir to the 2020 model, forerunner of the successful series of Surface devices from Microsoft and standard-bearer of devices with an educational vocation in the Windows share.
The new Surface Laptop Go 2 has a chassis with a virtually unchanged design compared to its predecessor, always very light and slim (278.2 x 206.2 x 15.7 mm, for 1,127 grams), resulting in an essential array of ports, represented here. from a USB Type-C (also for charging via a smartphone powerbank), from a Surface Connect (for fast charging up to 80% in 60 minutes, via proprietary 39 watt charger), from a USB Type-A , and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Wireless connections go through Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6.
With an aluminum back, to avoid excessive bending, the front of the first open plate (resulting in Instant On to be immediately operational as soon as the terminal is opened) is occupied by a 12.4-inch PixelSense display, resolved at 1536 x 1024 pixels according to an aspect ratio at 3: 2, with 148 PPI, 330 nits maximum and the support of an ambient light sensor.
The webcam remains an HD (f / 2.0) with 720p shooting, even if declared improved: accompanying it are two Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Audio Premium and two studio-quality long-range microphones.
The other plate, that is the chassis, designed with a composite resin base (for 30% post-consumer recycled content and with glass fiber reinforced polycarbonate), does not have a backlit keyboard, and has the fingerprint, for the ‘Hello authentication (the notebook is in any case certified for the “PC secure-core“ multi-level protection), in the start-on button (except in the basic version of 4 + 128 GB).
In the control room, the old 10th gen processor gives way to a new 11th generation processor, represented by the Intel Core i5-1135G7, with performance improvements such as single core clock frequency, increased efficiency ( also, for example, during the videolessons, thanks to the hardware compression module), the arrival of the Iris Xe graphics very much in encoding – decoding. The RAM of the Surface Laptop Go 2, LPDDR4x, is 4 or 8 GB, while the storage, which starts at 128 GB and reaches a maximum of 256 GB, is always an SSD. The whole is completed by a battery, from 41WH, credited with 13.5 hours of autonomy, the new Sage color (additional to Ice Blue, Platinum and Sandstone), and the operating system, Windows 11 Home.
Available in Italy from 19 July, the Surface Laptop Go 2 will be priced at 679 euros for the version with 4 + 128 GB, at 779 euros for the version with 8è128 GB and fingerprint in the power-on button, and at 879 euros in the variant with 8+ 256 GB and always the fingerprint scanner in the power button.
