Tag Heur shows off the new Connected Caliber E4 Golf Edition smartwatch

In a sort of curious and casual long-distance race with Garmin for the most expensive luxury sportwatch, the Swiss Tag Heur has announced the new Connected Caliber E4 Golf Edition, a premium smartwatch dedicated to golf lovers.

The passion for golf on the part of the luxury watchmaking brand Tag Heur goes beyond the Tag Heuer Golf Edition of June 2020 and dates back to the fifties of the last century, when the advertising billboards of the Auto-Graph model proclaimed the possibility of counting the scores on the green using the tachymeter bezel. Continuing its commitment to providing a valid wrist support to fans of the sector, Tag Heur of the Louis Vuitton group has announced the new Connected Caliber E4 Golf Edition smartwatch.

Ad hoc emanation of the model released last February, the Connected Caliber E4 Golf Edition is presented however only in the 45 mm size, given to a titanium frame, waterproof up to 50 meters in water, aesthetically in matt black thanks to a coating “Diamond-like carbon” that contrasts with the white of the rubber strap with dimples. On the side, there are both a digital crown and, at the ends, two physical buttons.

The display, more readable outdoors as it is made brighter, is a 1.39-inch round OLED touchscreen resolved at 454 x 454 pixels, on which the preloaded maps of about 40 thousand golf courses are displayed in 2D, with indications of obstacles and the distances in the 18 holes of each course, which can be tracked thanks to the bezel of the clock, under which a color coded system highlights the performance hole after hole. Thanks to the Tag Heur app for iOS, mapping and tracking take place in 3D: among the other functions dedicated by the Swiss manufacturer to golfers, there is a learning system which, remembering the clubs used in previous visits to the green and where the ball had fallen , in providing suggestions on the club to use also in relation to distance, he corrects himself along the way.

Due to the GPS and the accelerometer, also used by third-party apps (eg Stravia) downloadable thanks to the operating system, which will be updated to WearOS 3.0, the sportwatch in question, compared to the past, notices the movement of the swing for hit the ball placed on the tee and starts to automatically monitor performance, avoiding that, as before, you had to do it manually.

Technically, the new Tag Heur Connected Caliber E4 Golf Edition is powered by the Wear 4100+ processor which, 30% more efficient than the 3100, allows you to reach 24 hours of autonomy after 90 minutes of recharging. Also among the hardware equipment, the heart rate monitor provides feedback on the heart rate, the NFC supports contactless payments, and the Bluetooth for receiving notifications.

Purchased on the official store, the Tag Heuer Connected Caliber E4 Golf Edition can be worn on the wrist by paying (with the benefit of some golf balls in the package) $ 2,650, equal to approximately 2,450 euros: if you want to customize it, you will need an additional cost of $ 200. (Approximately 184 euros) for the red rubber strap, and 460 dollars (approximately 422 euros) for the steel bracelet.
