Threads: Meta reveals the integration of social with the fediverse

Threads is preparing to reach the fediverse, as announced just a few hours ago by Meta during the conference FediForum.

We are talking about a set of federated servers, used to create complex structures between multiple blogs, sites or social networks. Even though the sites are independent and hosted on different hosts, they communicate with each other, with the fediverse becoming a sort of “aggregator” multiplatform. The FediForum is an online event that allows developers to showcase what they are working on in the context of the fediverse.

As confirmed by Peter Cottle of Meta, through a short video, the company’s new social network also seems ready to embrace this philosophy. The integration will offer users the opportunity to share their posts on different platforms via Threads, with the possibility of accessing an even broader user base.

In the video proposed on the occasion of the FediForum, Cottle himself showed how it is possible to activate a function called fediverse sharing which, in fact, allows the sharing of content going beyond Threads.

However, it should be remembered that the integration of Threads with the fediverse is still partial. At present, the function just mentioned is in the alpha testing phase.

Threads and fediverse: the integration is still in the alpha phase, but the conditions are good

In fact, at the moment a user who shares content in this way cannot see replies to your postbeing able only to view the I like obtained.

Not only that: apparently, Meta has warned users that when a user decides to delete a post from Threads, it will not disappear from other connected platforms as well. As stated by Cottle, however, the company is more than convinced of this move and the developers are working hard for an adequate implementation.

Among the different platforms that make up the fediverse also figures Mastodonplatform decentralized microblogging which is gaining great acclaim among users.
