Despite these comforting numbers, the company is recording declining numbers and, to revitalize its status, has chosen to embrace new technologies. To increase its user base (and increase the premium subscriptions), the developers have introduced a new and interesting tool that exploits the potential ofArtificial intelligence.
Premium subscribers on Android, in fact, can enjoy a new nuisance call blocking system, implemented through an update named Max. Previously, systems to combat telephone spam were based on huge databaseswhose information was combined with the proactive screening on the individual user.
Max is the result of various evaluations by the developers who tested it before implementing the update dozens and dozens of algorithms.
Truecaller puts an end to annoying calls with AI, but it is not yet an infallible method
According to Truecaller, this introduction can be very useful for people who are tired of annoying call centers and who, in this context, see AI as a possible ally.
Regardless of the new nuisance call blocking system, Truecaller will continue to use the standard approach for basic users. This results in blocks including international numbers, hidden o unknowndepending on the settings of the individual account.
On the other hand, this is not the first time that Truecaller has relied on AI features. In fact, the app has already introduced an AI assistant capable of filtering calls based on the potential topic discussed. However, it must be said that Max is the new AI blocking function it is not yet infallible. In this sense, it is interesting to see how users will welcome this function which, in all likelihood, will only improve as the months pass.
It will be interesting to see how users react to the comprehensive nature of a feature that may sometimes make mistakes. The app currently warns users that the feature may block legitimate numbers. However, the system is expected to improve over time as it receives more data on spam calls.
After updating the Truecaller app on Android to version 13.58 or later, users can locate the new feature by going to Settings – Block.
