After a long wait, made up of months and months of gossip and rumors, the first concrete sightings of what will be the tweet editing function on the blue canary’s social network have emerged.

At the beginning of last week, Twitter stated that, even without bringing up the poll conducted by Musk (with 73.6% in favor of the idea), the social network had been working on the tweet editing function since last year, given that – as explained by microblog’s vice president of consumer products, Jay Sullivan – had been requested for many years, by users who would have liked to correct spelling errors or to have second thoughts.
The problem, however, is that in implementing the function (ipso facto delayed), which will be tested in the coming months before with subscribers to the Blue program and subsequently extended to all the others, it was necessary to avoid that the modification of the tweet could “be used improperly to alter the recording of the public conversation “.
In the past few hours, precisely about the tweet editing function, several discoveries have arrived. Specifically, the leaker Alessandro Paluzzi (also discoverer of future new Reactions for Spaces) showed a screenshot of how the function will appear, which can be accessed from the 3 dots menu on the right of each tweet, in the list that appears, at the bottom, under the heading “View the Tweet analysis”. By tapping or clicking on the item “Edit Tweet” (Edit Tweet), you will end up reopening the post editing form, with the blue Tweet button which, on occasion, will become “Update”.
According to what was brought to the attention of the leaker Nima Owji, during the modification phase of the tweet, it will not be possible to change the audience of the same. No less important, then, was the correlated discovery of the leaker Jane Manchun Wong which brought to attention how the tweet editing function will still bring the trappings of immutability since the text of the post will not actually be changed at the of the same tweet but, in reality, a new one will be generated, certainly including the modified text but with, also, “the list of the old Tweets previous to that modification” (although, at the moment, it was not possible to find out how this history will appear).
Finally, the mentioned developments on Musk’s attempt to take over Twitter. Responding to a user, the billionaire, in commenting on the poison pill measure, explained that the Board should be more concerned about other potential bidders and that, considering that from next month the former CEO Dorsey (who has 2.2% of shares) will leave the board of directors of the platform, it will end up that the aforementioned Board of Directors will not be aligned with the interests of the shareholders.
