Twitter: in test the button for subtitles and third-party apps for security

Committed to improving the user experience of its users, Twitter has announced the launch of two tests, with which it has started experimenting with a button for subtitles, and integrated the use of third-party solutions (for now with a view to safety). At the same time, tough steps have been taken to tackle disinformation on climate change.

Engaged in developing future features, such as changing tweets, or updating the status, the social Twitter, having completed its development, has meanwhile made its debut, in tests, two other novelties, represented by a button for subtitles, and by the appeal to third-party apps to protect their users.

The first novelty, formally communicated, by the Twitter Support profile operates with a view to accessibility, although it may also be useful for those who usually watch videos while keeping the sound low or off. Specifically, after introducing automatic subtitles for all new videos in December for everyone on the web and mobile side, the platform has now implemented, as part of a test involving some users on iOS (and, ” presto “, also on Android), a CC key.

The key in question, located at the top right, on the videos (which, however, as a condition, have subtitles enabled), if pressed, will enable the subtitles which, vice versa, will then disappear when the aforementioned button is re-pressed.

Last February, Twitter launched the “Twitter Toolbox“ project, with the aim of bringing together in a hub all those services and apps developed by the programmers of the platform community with the aim of improving the user experience of the end user. As part of this initiative, and also to bring public to the creations of these developers, Twitter has decided to suggest, “at the right time”, in the app and on the site, together with its internal tools to block or silence users. harassing, even third-party apps (in any case already existing previously, even if it was necessary to search for them manually) dedicated to the protection and safety of users.

While waiting for solutions of a different nature to be integrated, for a real customization of the user experience, we start with apps such as Moderate (support in managing mentions), Bodyguard (automatic management of comments), and Block Party (default blocking of accounts potentially sources of harassment).

On the subject of official initiatives, Twitter has announced an expansion of its policies for inappropriate content, as a result of which it will ban all ads that contradict established truths about the effects of climate change and the phenomenon itself. In deciding “what is correct and what is not correct, he will be informed by authoritative sources, such as the Intergovernmental Group on Climate Change Assessment Reports”.

Finally, in the context of rumors of the last hour, from the leaker Alessandro Paluzzi comes the discovery that the social network of the blue canary is at work to allow you to attach, in the same post, GIFs, photos and videos at the same time.
