Even Twitter, like some of the main multimedia streaming platforms, has allowed itself some interesting news, going beyond the usual emergence of rumors about functions that are not yet evident but in any case promptly revealed by leakers via reverse engineering.

According to what was announced by the same social network, in its official blog for business (business.twitter.com), a test has started that could make the users’ feed more interesting from a commercial point of view, even if everything will depend, in view of final releases, from user feedback, and from feedback on advertisers’ performance. The first of the new announcements is “Interactive Text Ads”, an advertising format currently in testing with a small number of brands in the US.

This novelty provides for the creation of posts with a “bigger and bolder” font than the usual Twitter one, in which brands will be able to link a maximum of 3 words in the text of the post, with relative directives to their respective landing pages: advertisers will also be able to choose, among 10 available colors, which palette will underline the clickable interactive words in the sponsored post.

Borrowing from other social platforms (Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Pinterest), Twitter has started to test another advertising format, entitled “Product Explorer”, according to which, as part of a “promotional” post, brands they will be able to upload a product that users can explore in 3D, so as to observe it from various angles, just as if they were in front of it in reality. A third ad format, currently being tested with some US advertisers, is that of “Collection Ads” or Collection Ads: in this case, to accompany the main focus of the post, rendered through a static image, there will be a series of miniatures that can be explored via a horizontal carousel, each of which can point to a different product page. The press release recalls that all the new ad formats currently being tested by Twitter will be able to be seen using the blue canary’s web or mobile (Android / iOS) interaction, “with interactive elements that will work on all versions of the app “.

Turning to the rumors, finally, from the leaker Alessandro Paluzzi comes the news that Twitter is working on a modification of the Top Articles function (main articles, of the last 24 hours), reserved for Blue subscribers, to which the / section has been added. “friends of friends” tab, which goes alongside “people you follow”.

From leaker Jane Manchun Wong, on the other hand, comes the discovery that Twitter is working, in its Android app, on a system to allow the selection of the text to be copied. To date, such a practice succeeds, for example, in those phones, a minority – explains podcaster Mishaal Rahman, an expert in Android – that have the “panoramic selection” function, which allows you to select for copying text from any screen.
