In the past few hours, the social network Twitter, between one news and another concerning the future buyer Elon Musk, officially announced the launch of an important novelty offered as a test to those who open an audio space on the platform, with the aim of improve the interaction of Spaces users with those who listen to them. At the same time, the platform communicated some initiatives on the subject of streaming content, and became the protagonist of several rumors.
At the recent edition of NewFronts 2022, Twitter announced several new features in terms of content, which also affect advertisers who, through them, will be able to reach a particularly engaged audience. It starts with an expanded agreement with Conde Nast, which will allow advertisers to sponsor programs such as the Vanity Fair Oscar Party Red Carpet, the Vogue Red Carpet at the Met Gala, and the Pitchfork Music Festival on Twitter. Thanks to E! News comes the live streaming “While you were streaming” focused on entertainment news from the world of television, while there will be new programming by ESSENCE and REVOLT, and sports streaming thanks to the new agreement with the WNBA women’s basketball league.
Last but not least, among the many initiatives that emerged at NewFronts 2022, the launch of a program was announced that will “provide the highlights in real time of the greatest global events”.
Turning to the second official novelty, the Twitter Spaces account detailed the launch of a novelty, tested in March with some hosts. In particular, when a host starts a Space, a card of that space will be published as a tweet, so that users of the blue canary platform (who will find that tweet in Home if they follow the host) can reply and like the contents of the room under discussion. Inside the Spaces, next to the Reactions icon, a button for the threads has been placed that shows the count of interactions in the related thread: by tapping on this icon you can only consult the chirps sent as a response to the Space tweet and comment.
Still on the merits of the function, it will be possible to identify the topic of the conversation since the tweets sent from inside a Space will be connected to the relative room. Apparently, taking into account the fact that at the beginning of the year Twitter tested a function for sharing short audio clips of the Spaces with some hosts, the latter are gaining some attention from the programmers of the platform, as demonstrated also by most of the rumors coming from recent.
In particular, according to the leaker Alessandro Paluzzi, a system is being developed to send reactions to a Spaces, even when the latter has been minimized or anchored to the taskbar: always from the same source comes the discovery based on which Twitter would be thinking of also highlighting the responses to the author of a tweet on the web app. Finally, from leaker Nima Owji, comes the discovery that Twitter is bringing SuperFollows to the web version of the platform as well.
