Videos also arrive on Spotify: already available in Europe, but under one condition

Spotify has announced the debut of music video on its streaming platform. However, the Swedish company underlines that this feature is currently in beta version and that it is limited to a limited part of the catalogue. Furthermore, the videos are currently visible only in 11 countries (the United States is surprisingly excluded), includingEurope.

To watch the video of a specific piece of music, just click (or tap, if you are on a smartphone or tablet) on the new button “Switch to video”. To return to traditional audio playback, all you have to do is press on “Switch to audio”. At each switch from one format to another, the song will start from the beginning.

On smartphones and tablets, watching videos is also possible in mode landscapeon desktop computers and laptops instead in full screen. In addition to iOS and Android, Spotify confirms that the feature is supported on clients for Windows, macOS, smart TVs and consoles. To look at them though you must have a Premium subscription.

At the moment the news is undergoing gradual release and some users may receive it later than others. For example, the writer can use it on a PC but not yet on smartphones and smart TVs. In short, as usual you just have to be patient a little. «In this beta phase we will continue to improve and modify this feature based on user and artist feedback», explains the company in the press release.

Speaking of artists, Spotify mentions Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat, Ice Spice, Aluna and Asake, but the list is much longer. In fact, it is enough to take a look at a playlist to notice how videos are already available for many songs (by numerous artists, even less famous than those just mentioned).
