The most awaited smartphone of the day was presented by BBK in China, resulting in the first folding for the Vivo brand which, with the Vivo X Fold, seems ready to dictate the line to the entire foldable sector.
After a long series of rumors, on China Weibo and other Chinese social networks, Vivo’s first folding smartphone has finally become reality, the Vivo X Fold (8,999 yuan, approximately 1,298 euros), created to challenge the rival Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G , but also the “cousin” Oppo Find N.
Cadenced in the blue, black and gray palettes, Vivo X Fold (311 grams), on one of the two outer halves, offers a quadcamera, in bumper extended almost over its entire width, without compromise, with a main sensor (assisted by the V1 chip ) 50 megapixel (ISOCELL GN5, 1 / 1.57 inch, f / 1.75, optical gimbal stabilization), one ultra wide angle (114 °) 48 megapixel (Sony IMX598, f / 2.2, 4-axis OIS Gimbal stabilization) , a telephoto lens (2x) also for the 12 megapixel Portrait (IMX663, f / 2.4, 47 mm), a telephoto with periscopic lens (5x optical zoom, 60x super zoom) 8 megapixel (f / 3.4, laser autofocus). The other half is occupied by a 6.53-inch AMOLED panel, as a 120 Hz Samsung E5, with HDR10 +, Full HD +, 21: 9 ratio, and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor: thanks to a wing hinge aeronautical type float, ideal for withstanding 80 daily folds for 10 years (in total 300,000 folds), capable of ensuring a completely flat closure and keeping the device open at an angle between 60 and 120 ° (excellent for photos with long exposure, to watch videos without having to lean the device against something, for video calls), you get an internal 8.03-inch E5 AMOLED display, resolved in 2K + (1800 x 2200 pixels), with support for HDR10 +, the biometric scanner ultrasonic, a ratio of 4: 3.55, and a refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz (being with LTPO3 technology).
To protect the internal display, awarded with an A + from Display Mate, the same ultra-thin UTG glass supplied by Shott pure to Samsung acts: at the software level, Android 12 is covered by the Origin OS which, in this case, supports multi-tasking on the large screen in the form of floating windows in which to run apps, unless you decide to place two side by side.
There are two self-cameras, 16 megapixel both outside and inside, included in holes in the large internal screen and in the small external one. On the audio side there are two stereo speakers: on the side there is a warning / mute scrolling button.
For the processor, the manufacturer has opted for an octacore Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (with Adreno 730 GPU, bearer of 5G) customized by Qualcomm for greater system security, supported by 12 GB of RAM (LPDDR5) and 256/512 GB of storage (UFS 3.1) not expandable. On the energy side, there is a 4,600 mAh battery, which can be quickly charged both via cable, at 66W (completely in 37 minutes), and wirelessly, at 50W: there is no lack of reverse wireless charging, being able to charge resting devices at 10W. on its back.
Closes the whole, the assortment of connectivity, with the X Fold equipped with Dual 4G with VoLTE calls, 5G standalone and not, Wi-Fi ax / 6 dual band, Bluetooth LE 5.2, GPS dual frequency L1 and L5, of the microUSB 3.1 of 1st gen Type-C, and of the NFC module for payments.
