Compared to the past, when to have Windows it was necessary to remedy an installation CD, Microsoft, also to counter piracy, has become much more permissive with non-corporate users (therefore with those who use the PC at home for personal use). There are, in fact, different ways to download and install Windows 10 for free, and even for those who do not have the regular license, it is not that there are particular restrictions that prevent the use of the computer.
If therefore, Upgrading to Windows 10 is free by updating Windows 7 or 8, even if you are installing it on a new computer, you can download Windows 10 for free without any particular problems.

Download Windows 10 as an upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8
Who still has a PC with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, with any type of license, regular or not, can download Windows 10 and upgrade for free. From this official page, in Italian, you can then press the menu to select the edition and press Confirm. Then choose the language, putting it in Italian, and press the Confirm key again. Finally, click the link to download the Windows 10 ISO, if 32 bit or if 64 bit.
Keep in mind that it is possible, after installation, to upgrade for free from the 32-bit version to Windows 10 64-bit (absolutely recommended).
In this way, you can download the Windows 10 ISO which can be copied to a USB stick to perform a clean installation or you can run the setup program to install Windows 10 directly on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, with an automatic procedure. There is also another way to download Windows 10 as an update, but a PC that already has Windows 10 installed is required. In fact, on the download page, you can press the button Download the tool now that allows you to install the Media Creation Tool on your PC, a Microsoft tool that allows you to create the USB stick or the installation DVD to be used on another PC with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1
As soon as you have downloaded the update tool for Windows 10, choose whether to immediately update your PC to Windows 10 or if create a clean install media on another PC.
Select the language, the desired Windows 10 version which can be Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro, and then the computer architecture (32 or 64 bit).
If you are not sure, you can choose in the latter option, the entry Both, to download a Windows 10 ISO file containing both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. However, this file will be much larger.
To go Forward and then choose if create an installation USB stick or if create the ISO file to save on the PC and then copied onto a DVD disc. The first option, the one to create the USB flash drive, is certainly more convenient. If you select the ISO, you will be asked where to save the image file.
By pressing OK again, the download will start and you will only have to wait.
The tool downloads Windows 10 and installs it on top of Windows 7 or 8 in order to validate the license.
Download the Windows 10 ISO from any PC or smartphone
Today you can download Windows 10 from any computer, smartphone, or operating system without problems by following the same link seen above. You can do the direct download of Windows 10 ISO 64 or 32 Bit, the latest version in Italian, even from Windows 10 itself, thanks to the emulation trick. In Chrome or Edge or even in Firefox, press the right button anywhere on the page of the Microsoft site, then press on Inspector Examine and then press the keys on the keyboard CTRL-Shift-M together to enter emulated mode. Reload the page and notice that instead of downloading the update, the ISO file is downloaded as if you were using a Windows 7 PC or smartphone.
It, therefore, becomes possible to install Windows 10 even from scratch (clean installation), creating a USB key using the Media Creation Tool. In these cases, however, the installation from scratch does not lead to a valid license (the only installation on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 is free), with an authentic license or not.

Download the latest version from a PC already with Windows 10
If you already have Windows 10 and want to install the latest version (remembering that Microsoft releases a new version every 6 months and each version of Windows 10 becomes obsolete after two years), just open the download page, which is always the same. If you already have Windows 10, the link to update appears and not the one to download the ISO (i.e. the complete installation files).
From the same page, you can also download the Media Creation Tool to update Windows 10 without errors, although it can take longer (but there will be no cancellations even using Microsoft’s tool).
If you have a PC with Windows 10, unless there are serious problems and impediments, it is possible to reinstall Windows 10 without installation disc and without downloading anything, simply thanks to an integrated option.
Likewise, always without having to download anything, it is possible, at any time, to format and installs Windows from scratch to get your PC clean and new.

Before installing Windows 10
First of all, before putting Windows 10, you need to prepare the PC as mentioned.
Please note that even if a product code is not requested for download, during installation, if it is not an update, you will be asked to enter an original code. If it is not inserted, it will still be possible to complete the installation, with the promise to insert it later.
If you upgrade your existing Windows 7 / 8.1 to Windows 10 using this tool you can use the bootable USB drive or DVD or ISO created by this tool to perform a clean install of Windows 10 and the license will be retained. However, if you try to install Windows 10 cleanly right away, you will miss out on a free upgrade.
Also consider, as already written in the FAQ with the questions regarding Windows 10, that if you update Windows 10, you will be able to go back to Windows 7 or 8, but that after 30 days the Windows 7/8 product key will be deactivated and definitively converted into a license for Windows 10.
Furthermore, after the update, you can reinstall Windows 10 cleanly using the USB stick or the ISO on DVD and you can also change architecture from 32-bit to 64-bit.
The version of Windows 10 that you can install for free on your PC will instead be the Home if you are upgrading from a PC with a Home or Starter edition of Windows 7 or 8 and the Pro if you are upgrading from an Ultimate or Professional version.
Remember that the free update allows you to use Windows 10 only on your PC without the possibility of installing it on another computer, without buying a new license.
