WhatsApp: a small revolution in the studio for disappearing messages

Always very active in developing new features (and a little less in releasing them in time), the instant messaging of WhatsApp in the past few hours has released new betas, both for the Desktop and for the Android version, which have made it possible to discover future improvements not still released.

As seen with the beta release 2.22.11.10 for Android, WhatsApp has released a new footer, informative about end-to-end encryption, including a page explaining what is protected by this form of protection: according to WABetaInfo leakers , something similar would also be studied for the Desktop version, at least based on the lines of code contained in the beta 2.2217.2 of WhatsApp Desktop. Specifically, the insiders would have discovered the existence of a security information page which, redesigned, would mention as protected by encryption from side to side messages video-audio calls, messages (text and voice), documents, media ( photos and videos), status updates, and location shares.

More interesting, however, it turned out to be what appeared to be hidden in the code of the beta 2.22.11.11 of WhatsApp for Android. Here, the reverse engineering of WABetaInfo has ascertained an improvement of the disappearing messages function which also provided a default timer for new chats, which would disappear according to the timing set in the platform’s privacy settings.

In the event that what is being developed should go through, it would be possible to convert into messages that even those exchanged in chats that already exist, without the need to go chat by chat and activate the desappearing messages function in the related chat information: in this specific case , this would happen simply by touching the item “Selecting them” (by selecting them), included at the bottom of the default timer options of the messages that disappear, and then proceeding to select, within a new section, even more chats together than those existing.

Obviously, both in the case of what was ascertained for the beta for Desktop and for that for Android, it was not possible to deduce the possible release time of the new discoveries, certainly destined to make their debut first in beta, in order to collect the user feedback.
